Pic of complete setup (6 3/4" wide, 14 1/2" long, 1" thick board)

10" or so lag bolts (I think they are 3/8" around) drill out board the width of the headrest posts. get two big washers and put on both sides of board before threading the nut on to hold it.

Get wide Velcro(tm) patches (with adhesive backing) and line up board with printer.

Double zip-tied with adhesive zip-tie holder on top of printer. (Both edges of printer)

Bungee cord the paper tray up to prevent wind-flappage.

You need:

shelving board cut to 6.75" X 14.5" (with a nice coat of black paint aesthetics!)

Two lag bolts (3/8" x 8 to 10" long)
4 washers
2 nuts (for the bolts, not you)
4 zip ties
2 zip tie holders
2 wide velcro(tm) patches w/adhesive backing
1 bungee cord

Don't forget to sand the edges of the shelving board before you paint it (top picture far right shows where I waited till after painting. If you don't sand it down, you'll cut your elbow on the wood and it hurts like a bee yotch.)

Also, getting the daggone headrest out is HARD, depending on the model of crown vic you have. Let me know if you have difficulty with that part because there is a trick to it.

Utah, to answer your other question, the printer I have has top loaded paper. If you have a front tray, it may not work. I have had several ride-alongs and they usually don't know it's there until I print a ticket and say "lean up for a minute."

Also, if you have a hard plastic front seat organizer, it sets just right to catch the paper in the top compartment of the organizer (if you rock like me.)

The posts have a small carter key-type pin holding the post in. You have to raise the headrest all the way up, then let pressure off by easing it down a little. Then, pull the fabric and back cushion back, and get some long needle nose pliers or a long, skinny flat screwdriver and pull the pin out. It will probably fall into the seat, but you'll never need it again. Also, this depends on the year of your car. Mine is a 2000 model and has a billion miles on it. I think the newer cars make it easier.

Yeah, mines a 98 so probably works the same way as yours. I'll give it a shot later today. Thanks for the tip.

If you have a Crown Vic, buy a Pentax Pocket jet III and a Ledco Armrest replacement that holds the printer.

I can get you part numbers.
