Becoming a LEO
I have a few questions about becoming a LEO. I think with a little work the physical will be a breeze but I was wondering about the oral review and polygraph tests. What kind of answers sound good in the oral review I don't want to go in and sound like I am trying to kiss A** and get in. What kind of questions will be asked during the polygraph ? If there are questions about old drug usage or underage drinking that disqualify(years ago)? I am going to put in my application next week I think I have a good chance because the police department is very understaffed right now. Also, do they do the physical before or after you go through the academy?

On one point, I know there's a small pocket sized book out there on how to pass your oral interview. You might want to go to Amazon.com or somewhere and look for it. My dad has a copy, but I can't think of the title right now.

Ya look for the book, I got one for the California Highway patrol and it helped a lot, Im actually going to academy in ten days.
The polygraph?, they gave me a voice analysis test, there the same thing but i just talk in to a mice so no wires. they asked questions like Did you with hold any Information on your application. have you ever driven under the influence? Did you with hold any information about applying to other agencies. Is everything you have told the CHP thus far the truth to the best of your knowledge. Its not that hard, but look for the book. I got mine from amazon.com i actualy bought three different ones. But this one was the best http://www.amazon.com/California-Highway-Patrol-Officer-Exam/dp/1576855899/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215820798&sr=8-1 look to see if they make one for the department your looking into.
