Duty sights?
I am currently pursuing a career as a LEO. I currently have Advantage Tactical Sight on my XD .45 and was thinking I need a good quick acquisition nights sight....was wondering what you use

I'd say the norm nationwide is a tritium three-dot setup (square-notch rear with two dots, post front with one dot).
The trend of a black rear and dot up front is coming back. I have a tritium three-dot setup on my duty gun. Andy |

Go with what you are comfortable with. I went with Tru-Glo TFO sights. I have had some people comment that they're a little distracting but they work well for me. Sights are equally vivid day or night and don't dull once you've fire your weapon a few times. Again if the sights work for you now then they'll work for you while on duty. Stay Safe.

My issued P2000 has Meprolight TruDots on it. Green over green, work great, bright as hell. (Too bright at times actually. I find myself having to cover the sights with my hand when laid in for a group) If I had a choice though, I'd go with a green front sight and either yellow or orange rear sights.

I prefer Meprolights, have them on my Off duty gun...
My duty gun has Trijicons on them. I just like the white outline around the mepros vs. the silver of the Trijicons. My eyes pick it up better during the day. At night, they're equal.

The XS Big Dots are the way to go; no joke. Swing over to "Get Off The X" forums (Tactical Response) and read about them...I don't work for them in any way, but have had good experiences with XS sights. Honestly, now that I've tried them, I won't use anything else voluntarily.

My duty XD .40 service is fitted with Trijicon's. I like them for low light and they work just as well as the OEM combats that came with the gun in day light. As others have said, use what you're comfortable with - as long as your department approves of the change (you might want to check this out before you get your rear end in a sling from some over zealous administrative type!)

I have Trijicons on my duty G22, alt. duty XD-9, and my off-duty XD-40 SC.
I'm a big fan of the Trijicons. Some may argue that others are brighter (and that may be true), but the Trijicons are tanks and more than adequate for a duty environment.
