I wouldn't go with a XS Big Dot sight on a law enforcement pistol. The dot sucks for any kind of precision shooting.

If I could get the sights I wanted on my duty pistol (and I can't) I would go with a standard dot Meprolight/Trijicon rear sight and a TRUGLO front sight.

Meprolights on one of mine, and Trijicon's on the other for duty usage.

I swear by either of them. However I do know quite a few who use TFO's and a couple with BigDot XS. But I think I will stick with what I have.

I have TFOs on my XD 45C, and on my primary carry firearm ( XD40SC ) I changed the TFOs out and had Trijicons installed. It seems recently some folks have had problems with the tubes on the TFOs coming loose and falling out. Personaly I have had ZERO problems with the TFOs great sights but can't afford to have a first time experience with them failing when I need them most and the Trijicons are built against such failures as folks are complaining about namely recoil shock. I will continue to keep using them on my XD45C at the range and if any problems arise I will go with Trijicons on it as well.

Well originally I was leaning towards the XS big dot....but pretty much everybody on here is telling me otherwise looks like I may have to reconsider. My dad has Trijicon's on his .45 XD and I shoot okay with them, but they are not as quick to realign as the sights I have on my .45 currently. I just wish I knew somebody with the Big Dots so I could give them a try before I make my decision.

Hedshot, the best I can tell you is to try them, and talk with someone over at Tactical Response's forums before you decide. There's no better sight for CQB, and you sacrifice nothing when it comes to accuracy. Anyone who tells you differently doesn't know how to use the sight properly. I'd offer to let you try mine, but I'm a few hours away from you.

I have meprolights on every handgun I own and love them. Bright and easy to see. Plus the white rings are plastic inserts instead of paint so they dont wear off.

I agree, I got a new pistol with the XS Big Dot sights and thought that the 3 dot setup is better. Maybe I just couldn't get used to the setup since I was using 3 dots on my duty gun...

I had trijicons on my XD40 and XD40sc (good), put suresights on my XD45's 4&5 inch, didn't like them at all(bad) and my 45's now sport green green TFO's(best).

I hav Trijicons on my sidearm, but you'll want to check your dept. policy before you spend the money.

One of the depts. near mine has a policy that says officers may not modify their duty handgun in any way. Its dumb, but its there. I personally know of one officer who took a hammer to his sights so that he could say they were "broken" and therefore "repair" them with Trijicons.

For me you can't go wrong with TFO's, Mepro's or Trijicons. I like Mepro's more than Trij's for the reasons already given. I have 2 XD's with TFO's, and 1 XD and 2 Kahr's with Mepro's and all have worked out great.
