Should corrections officers be segregated by sex?

Male prison guards are killed in prisons by prisoners. The prisoners are generally stronger than the guards so let's get rid of the male guards too. Bring gorillas in to guard the prisoners.

Sh*t happens; deal with it. It's a risk of the job. Denying women the ability to do these jobs is ridiculous and wrong. All guards are at risk.

You guys also fail to mention the enormous good that women guards do in these prisons.

....and it brings a question to my mind regarding the role of women as corrections officers in all-male prisons. Given these generalities:

1. On average, the female is not typically as physically strong as a male counterpart, even after LE training
2. Male prisoners tend to get stronger in prison, both to defend themselves and because there's not much else to do
3. Prisoners in an all-male environment experience a great deal of sexual repression, and the consequent aggressive tendencies can reveal themselves explosively
4. Corrections officers tend not to be armed as much as street LE

....is it a really a good idea to have women working as correctional officers in all-male prisons? It seems like they'd be easier pickings for locked-up psychos (especially if found alone) than a comparable male officer.

I'll probably catch hell from the equal-opportunity folks for even asking, but I'd like to hear your thoughts, particularly if you're LE or otherwise knowledgeable about prison security.

Like driving, voting, owning land and that sort of thing? A large part of the world thinks that is what God has told them.

Men and women are built differently, and designed for different purposes inherently. Whatever book you read, Bible, Quran etc makes this known. Women aren't really designed physically for hard arduous tasks etc. A line backer cant play quarter back and vice versa. Everyone has a role to play. Too many women wanna play the man's role.

Original question.... yes. I'm looking at going into the Sheriff's Dept and in Davidson Co. TN they handle prisoner transport etc. Almost every escape, guard overpowering situation etc. has had a woman officer involved. Not that they aren't "capable" but you got to remember most prisoners are very base. You see woman, they see opportunity. Sad but true.

If the statement is true then it is not racist.

I live in Oregon. If I point out the Illegal Aliens from Mexico make up a disproportional number of the prisoners in the Oregon prison system does that make me a racist?

I can also say that blacks make up a disproportional number of the prisoners in the Oregon prisons. That doesn't make me a racist. I am merely stating a publicly available fact.

The idea that you jump up and start calling people racist actually makes you the racist. You can't see the forest for the trees. You don't want to admit facts.
