I agree, this has been beaten to death here, a CJ degree does nothing to get you hired, we look at grades, not what the degree is in, it doesnt matter, and being a very competetive field to get hired into, a CJ degree does jack sh*t outside of LE if a person doesnt make it.

I just finished passing all of the testing to get in to the CHP, it took me awile i failed the writen the first time, but ive passed everything and I start Accadomy in July. the reason thet i chose CHP was because can post anywhere in CA and change any time without haveing to reaply.
Accadomy is Six months in Sac. But you get free room and bord, food, and they pay you through accadomy, something like $3400 to$4500, i have an AA so i atomaticly get a 5% rase. Plus its and Awsome carrer. retirements good too, you get 90% of your highst years earnings, so say you make $100,000 in one year( which is easyy with all of the over time that they have) that means that when you retire you get $90,000 for the rest of your life until you die. WOOT for the CHP good luck where ever you go.

The CHP academy is close enough to my house that I can hear the 4006s on the range. Good luck to you, its no walk in the park.

Accadomy is going to be insain, ive been running and working out for about 8 months in prep for it and i know that they are still going to kick my a$$, there are some things you just cant prepare for, like a sagent screeming at you at 04:00 to get up and run 5 miles, I just keep telling my self its going to be fun

Don't even bother trying to fool yourself. It ain't gonna be fun for the most part, but the end result is very worth it.

I have no dilusions about it, it is going to be the hardest six months of my life, but like you said the end result is worth all the pain. At first i was worryed about not being able to performe at the level that they wanted me to but the closer that july 21 gets the more confadent i get, but they will distroy that when i get there. Saterday i went on a ridealong with the lacal CHP office, And the Office i was pared with told me the story of his first day. He had a bad one before he even made it to the gate ( forgot the pants to his sute, tooth past berst in his bag, among other things), he also told me what dutys to valiter for and what not to do. My main objective now is getting ignored as much as posible.
If your trying to figure out which dipartment you want to go in to try calling them and see if you can get a ridealog thats how i got hooked on the CHP, I would sugest geting you AA then deside where you want to go, that way you have some education to fall back on. You have to be 21 before you can apply for a LEO Job, i think, so that gives you time to finish your AA.

Wow, you guys have six months of academy?!? It's ten weeks for Portland Police, and I think maybe less for other Oregon departments.
