Duty Holster question
I have an XD 4" Service, and got a Blackhawk CQC Serpa Level II holster for it. But this is actually a concealment holster rather than a duty holster with the usual belt loop. The duty belt has to be treaded through it and makes the fit kind of strange. I called Blackhawk and they don't make the Duty model for the XD.
Is anyone else using this as a duty holster and do you like it ? Any alternate suggestions ? HBear |

Blackhawk probably won't catch on for a while and make their "duty" holster for the XD any time soon.
I'd pickup a Safariland. They make most of their duty holsters available for the XD.

I'm using a Safariland for my XD-45 Service w/TLR-2. It took several weeks to get it -- they kept telling the LT that they'd never heard of an XD and had to make it from scratch -- but it arrived, and it fit. The holster model is 6280-14821-61.

+1 for Blade-Tech, been using them for three years now, first for XDs now for 1911.

Not sure what your use is - road patrol, administration, jail deputy, private security?
I'm a Court Deputy - overall, a fairly low threat environment compare to road or jail work (done both - don't want to do either again - at least not at my advanced age!). I use the CQC Level II for duty and really like it but, again - this isn't road patrol. If you're a road guy, I wouldn't recommend the CQC for duty. For the past year, I've been asking Blackhawk to get with the program and bring out a Level II or III duty holster. All I get is, "Well, we're planning on it, but I can't tell you when it will be available...." I got tired of waiting on them and went the Safariland route when I wanted a replacement holster for my 1911.....

I carry an XD-40 4" with a Safariland holster, my department requires level III retention, so I ordered the thumb break piece, thus it's now level III.

Another thing to keep in mind is the mag pouch. I didn't, and it took another few weeks to get.

What model number is your holster, I am trying to find a good Level III for my XD 40 4" but have been unsuccessfull, also will Safariland build me a custom holster? I bet it will cost an arm and leg...
