Police Chief Shot - Barricaded Gunman
ALERT: Police Chief, Sheriff's Deputy Shot || WXYZ.com | WXYZ-TV / Detroit | Detroit News, Weather, Sports and More
CAPAC, Mich. (AP) - The St. Clair County sheriff's department said Wednesday one of its deputies and the Capac police chief have been shot. Sheriff's department spokesman Gary Albrecht said the shooting happened in the Capac area. Albrecht said Chief Raymond Hawks and the deputy went to a home and were shot at by someone inside. He didn't have details on their conditions. Albrecht said he didn't know why the pair had gone to the home. Michigan State Police Sgt. Craig Nyeholt of the Richmond post told The Associated Press that the police chief pulled over a male driver for careless or reckless driving in Capac. The motorist ran into a nearby house, and the chief called for backup and a tow truck. The motorist then came out of the house and shot the chief twice and a deputy once before going back into the house.

prayers out to the family. I hope the gunman gets what he deserves, and I hope the officers pull through.
Puts a bad name to everyone who ones guns.

On the local news 30 minutes ago...... Chief was shot twice, once in the arm, once in the side. He was in the hospital being X-Rayed at the time of the broadcast. The Deputy was shot in the head, but is not as seriously hurt as the Chief. Video shows at least 30 Police cars around the house. No other info as of now. Capac is about 30 miles from here. Nothing there now, but you may want to check abc12.com: abc12.com: Flint News, Weather, Traffic and Sports - Saginaw, Bay City & WNEM.com - Home later for updates.

I heard on the radio this morning that the Deputy was treated & released, & the Chief is critical but stable. They got the perp - found him laying on the floor of a pickup, under the dash. Nothing much in the way of details as to why the shooting.
