Where do you carry your BUG?
So I graduate from the academy on Friday and start my first day the next Monday. My question is...where do ya'll carry your back up gun and in what fashion? I have thought of carrying in some type of holster on my vest but that seems like it might be pretty uncomfortable and visible. I'm going to carry off duty in a supertuck most of the time and I have a CQC for other times I can conceal w/ a jacket or longer shirt. But the BUG is what I'm most concerned about...I really want to carry a back up weapon and just need some insight as to where the best / most comfortable place is to carry it.
Thanks as always guys!

Depends on what the gun is. If it's small enough, a second cuff case works nice. I'm not a fan of ankle carry, but it works for a lot of people.

When I was on, I used to carry a S&W Model 60 5 shot revolver in my weak side front or back pocket. I had the hammer bobbed so it wouldn't hang on my pocket. I will admit my choice was limited due to dept. rules.
I realize your Glock probably can' be a pocket gun, so I don't know what you can do. I would stay away from sob at all costs. It's bad enough you have to keep the handcuff cases back there. Anything near the spine can result in back damage and from personal experience, I can tell you that's not a lot of fun. |

Ankle all the way. I know it's a little harder to get to than in other places, but I wear it on my ankle off duty and on. If you are worried about the comfort, wear it a week and you'll be used to it. I carry an XD40 sc as my BUG (very similar to your g27 in most respects), and it works just fine. Also, as long as you practice kneeling and drawing, you'll get used to the motion and it'll be second nature.

Hulk, tho I never wore an ankle holster on duty and not very often off, have you ever been in a foot pursuit wearing it. If so, did it hurt, come loose, etc.

I carried my Kahr on my ankle back when I had it. It wasn't too bad, and even stayed put during a foot pursuit in my cheap Uncle Mike's ankle holster. I don't carry anything at the moment. A co-worker carries his XD40SC in a Galco Ankle glove and loves it, so I might borrow his to try out.
BTW, congrats on the Graduation this weekend. Are you sick of Sgt. Poret saying "you ain't getting it your way; this ain't burger king" yet?

M-36 under my right arm on my vest, where I can get it with my left hand.

Not LEO but I carry a BUG (Colt Govt. Model 380) in an ankle rig by Bianchi. I've ran with it and it's pretty stable I keep it fairly tight, but then again I've never been in a foot pursuit of a suspect either.
