Pulled over for speeding, 2nd time in 2 weeks

First one was a warning, this one is a ticket. Both were 15 over. But the ticket isn't the issue, I deserve that. Driving school next Wednesday. Police officers make me nervous, I just cant help it. When he asked to see my license and registration I told him before I reached back there that I have a ccw and a pistol right next to my wallet. So he asks me to get out of the car and takes my gun out of the holster. I then tell him I also have a gun in the door's map pocket. Now, the gun I was carrying was my xd 9 service. The gun in the map pocket was a kel tec 32. The 32 often just stays in the car when I get home, I keep it in there in because it doesn't serve much of a purpose sitting in the house, and sometimes I like the option of having something more concealable. It's just a back up gun that usually doesn't serve any purpose. I never actually carry two guns on me (don't see the need). Is this the explanation I gave when he asked me "why are you so loaded up on guns?" Nope, I was nervous and the nature of the question caught me off guard, so I gave some ridiculous answer I can't even remember now. Nothing stupid of course, but I'm sure he could tell he caught me off guard. He asked why I carried, if I typically carry large amounts of cash on me or something. I guess having two guns in the car annoyed him. Am I the only one that gets nervous and forgets how to speak English in these situations? I imagine officers are used to it. Also, this was a motorcycle cop. I imagine those on motorcycles primary purpose is to give speeding tickets. So getting away with speeding must be a lot harder if you get pulled over by one? And, one last question. I've never had a speeding ticket until now. A section of the speeding ticket specifies military or civilian. Is there some reason I should be telling officers that I'm military? It sounds strange and I can't imagine why this is on the ticket.

I'm having a tough time figuring out exactly what you're concern is here. The way I'm hearing it is:

1. You were speeding both times.

2. You got a warning the first time and a ticket the second time.

3. You informed the LEO you had a loaded gun in the car and he asked you to exit the vehicle while he secured your gun.

4. You then informed him you had a second gun in the door pocket.

5. He asked why you were carrying two guns.

6. You got tongue tied at some point and gave him an answer to the question that you can't remember.

7. He was a moto cop.

8. You must live in an area where there's a military installation and the system needs to identify military personnel who get tickets.

Are these the key points in your post? If so - what's the issue? Did he do something to make you nervous or are you upset by the way he handled the situation? Sounds to me like he was very professional in handling your weapons and asking questions......

I suck when being questioned by authority. I always have. I have gotten into more trouble for doing stuff I didn't do than anything else in high school.

I'm not rude, I just get all tied up and have to think about their questions so I get in trouble because they just assume I did whatever it was.

I think the problem here is - you're talking to the UNIFORM, not the PERSON inside it. Try to think of people in authority positions as PEOPLE 'cause that's what we are without the badge, uniform, or gun.

When I ask someone a question - in or out of uniform - I'm asking for information. I don't ask the question unless I need the information to proceed with the process (getting someone into court, questioning why someone is where they're not supposed to be, etc.). I don't ask a question unless I need the information.

Does that help you at all??

In the end, uniform or not, they still wipe their butt the same way anyone else does, they just have a different job.

Why does anybody who have done nothing wrong have to get tongue tied when talking to a LEO?? I dont get it.

Lets see... you are a law abiding citizen who has CHL and has it on him/her, gets pull over for speeding(your fault, you know that) and now is nervous????? you'll get a ticket or not, LEOs are just like you and me, to an extent, their jobs are different than yours thats it.

Do you get nervous when talking to your boss??? if you do you have some issues you need to resolve, other than that people need to get this fear of police out of their systems is just unfair to LEOs, they are not the boogie man(I am).

Remember this most people curse the LEOs when they get caught doing something they should not be doing, but everybody thanks the police when they are victims of something or need help.

I guess because of my life, background and family I am very comfortable around LEOs.

DONT check the part in the ticket where it asks if military or not, unless you want your CO up your 4th point of contact for getting a ticket.

Jose

I tend to be a smart-ass depending on the nature of the officer. If hes cool, I'm cool. If hes a prick, I'm a bigger prick.

When I get "why do you carry", I say "the same reason you do".

There was no issue. His procedure was very professional and he was as polite as can be during the whole process. I don't typically get nervous around officers, so I guess it was just me knowing I'd be facing a ticket. So, looking back it makes me wonder if I would have just gotten a warning if I had said the right things.

I used to get nervous dealing with police simply because I spent so many younger years having REASONS to be nervous, since I was pretty much always doing something wrong. Even as a more mature law abiding citizen, it took me a while to get past that feeling.

You just have to say to yourself..."I'm not a criminal. I'm not doing anything wrong." It's not their job to make personal judgements about you. You could have 50 guns in your car if you want. It may make the LEO happy, it might make him angry, hell it might make him cry like a little girl. But it's your choice to make, because it's not against the law.

And hacker and ichy nailed it...they are just people. I show them respect, because I respect the job they do. But I don't fear them or kiss their ass, and usually they seem to appreciate that more. A good way to think about it is interact with LEO's like you're trying to bang their daughter.
