Man that's awesome. 43 and still hanging with the young bucks! I've been in the landscaping industry for 12yrs and raced motocross for a while, sometimes my body feels like its 80yrs old.

Good luck to ya!

38 when I retired from the Air Force. I've been on patrol ever since. One of the other patrol guys is 58 now and he was 54 when he started. He's also retired military.

Started at 27 - out of the service, got married, had a kid and another on the way......you're not too old to start. Good luck!

Lets see how many people I can make feel old here.....

I was a sworn LEO at the ripe old age of 19. That wasnt all that long ago either.

I started when I was 26, after realizing being a FBI agent was out (I quit law school after 2yrs.).

There was a guy in my class who was 34, which was just under the max age at that time and he worked a full 25yrs.

And as far as changing careers, I was at the academy one time and decided to obs one of the classes. The DI, who I knew, told me one of the cadets was an atty. and in his 30s. He was #1 physically and no one could keep up with him in the running dept.

Go for it and enjoy your career; I did (well, except for a surgery here and there).

It's nice to see someone else with a similar situation. I just turned 34 and am beginning the process for a career change.

From what I learned, in MN most dept want to see a minimum of a Associates degree to be considered a candidate. I don't think we have any programs/academies where you can apply and get trained and find a job with out some kind of college degree in Criminal Justice.

So I'll be looking for a school this summer and plan to start in the fall. I'd like to start right now, but my summer life (running my landscape biz) allows no spare time.

Ha, my body feels 80 too sometimes - but funny thing is that's from my workouts and trying to stay in shape.

If I was a couch potato, I'd probably have no injuries!

I've been doing pretty hard core combatives fitness training with Team Ruthless and mountain biking 2-4 days per week (mostly single speed in the hills).

But man, how I hate running! Guess I'd better start doing that more if that's part of it as I'm reading here.
