One of our dispatcher told me that someone called 911 the other day to ask what the non-emergency number was.

That's not uncommon. When I worked in dispatch, I frequently had people call with this request. I commend them for having the mental capacity to realize that their call is not an emergency, and are only using 911 to get the non-emergency number. If you are out shopping and lock your keys in your car, three cities away from your home town, having (or getting) the local police departments non-emergency number isn't always an easy task.

The Mayor of Scottsdale Arizona frequently called 911 when she needed directions to meetings.

Didn't the city budget have just a little bit of room for A GPS for her?

"Dumbest Crooks", on Tru TV last night had a segment on a lady that had Police called to her house because of a loud stereo. She called 911 after they left, and wanted the officer sent back to her house because "He's just totally hot".

In my town, 911 and the non emergency number goes to the exact same people.

Before you issue a GPS, you need some one bright enough to use it!
