It's an unfair comparison to try to compare the Strion to the Stinger models. The Strion is a bright light for it's size, but it's not a full size light. The issue is not with the fast charger...it's the Strion switch. If you remove the face cap and you look at the switch and you see that you have a "black" color switch...I would suggest that you send us your Strion to upgrade to the "white" switch.

I want to say more about the Strion, but some of the information has not been released to the public as of yet. Just be patient because it will have some changes.

I like our Stinger LEDs, but we had some switch issues with these lights. The latest switch is much smoother to operate compared to the old switches.

The old Stingers/XT/HPs are very different compared to the LED/DS models. The LED has a clear light compared to the yellow tint in halogen lamps. LED also improves battery life on our rechargable lights and it reduces the amount of heat generated.

ETA: You cannot put an XT tailcap on a standard Stinger to make it a DS(dual switch) because the XT tailcap and the standard Stinger use different switches. You can however add a DS tailcap to a Standard Stinger LED to make it a Stinger DS. You just need to purchase a DS tailcap, which retails for $20.

I am not trying to be critical about some the comments being made on this thread. People need to KNOW what they are talking about before they post their comments. I feel that many issues with these lights could be corrected if the end user would learn how to properly use their lights.

I work for Streamlight and I see plenty of lights that are sent in for repairs. A lot of the time, it's the consumer that ruins the light because they do not know how to use the lights.

I don't know much about SureFire lights...other than the fact that the company makes quailty products. Their customers seem to be very happy with the build quality.

I'm curious what type of repair issues/failures ya'll are running into. From the consumer end, it seems pretty straightforward:

press button to turn it on, again to turn it off (or the other modes). When battery is drained recharge for instructed period of time.

Yea, but that costs more than THREE TIMES as much as the Fenix T1. Granted, the T1 doesn't have SOS, or super ajustability (only two power levels and pre-focused beam) but it IS brighter. I guess it all comes down to the proven track record, warranty, brand name, and durability of a surefire (it has all of those) over the chinese made no-name that performs solidy for a very very affordable price.

I have the Pelican 7060 and I like it. Incredibly bright, and not too pricey at like $109 at opticsplanet.com. The holster it comes with is ok, but I wonder how long it will last.

My Strion switch died on me after a month of use in the police academy. I eventually sent it back for warranty repair about six months ago.

Once I got it back, I took it into the field for use. It died on me again. All I did with it the second time it broke was ONE vehicle search. One search and it died. I'm glad it wasn't a life-or-death situation or I would have been screwed.

I haven't sent it back in because apparently, Streamlight can't fix it. Are you saying that something has changed with the Strion switch within the past six months?

Strobe really sucks on a combat flashlight.

Sure it's disorienting for your opponent, but have you tried shooting at something moving while it's being illuminated by a strobe light?

It's as disorienting for you as it is for them.

Negative, and I don't ever plan to.

I'm not sure if the person that repaired your Strion put in a new tailcap insert. The newer ones are longer and seem to function better.

You could request via email or call and get parts sent to you versus sending in the entire light to be checked out. Changing switches are very simple and you just need basic tools.

You can purchase an "upgrade" for you G2 Surefire. It converts it to be rechargeable in the car or the house. it comes with a longer rechargeable battery and thus a longer polymer housing for the G2. Check it out, it's a great upgrade.

Also look into swaping out the Xenon bulb for a CREE bulb. You get outstanding lumen output and several hours on a single set of batteries. You can get rechargeable CR123A batteries and even get higher voltage batteries (3.6v or 3.7v compared to normal 3.0v 123 batteries) since it's a led derivative. This gives you longer run time and a brighter beam of light.

I have two G2's, one factory Xenon bulb which gives 65 lumens for about an hour. The other G2 has a CREE bulb and I get 200 lumens for almost 4 hours!!

I had a Stinger and it was nice enough. However, i didn't feel it was quite bright enough for it's size. Also a little overpriced with the other options out there.

Okay I'll try again. Thanks.
