I'm looking at one of the Fenix lights for a back up light. I think I want one that runs on AA's so I can easily recharge them. I know they make rechargeable CR123A batteries, but haven't had any personal experience with them...has anyone else?
The Fenix lights I'm look at are: https://www.fenix-store.com/product_...roducts_id=333 https://www.fenix-store.com/product_...roducts_id=362 and one that runs on CR123A's: https://www.fenix-store.com/product_...roducts_id=358

You can get the G2L to go with your G2 and have a light that will run for 12 total hrs.
I also think there is a kit sold that turns your G2 into a rechargeable flashlight. IIRC it costs as much as the flashlight does but when you figure that the Cheapest 123As are from surefire at just under 2 bucks per it will probably pay for it's self over time.

I freaking love the Fenix. 120 lumens and runs on AA batteries. The Stinger DS LED is also a very nice light. I was very unimpressed with the Strion.

I have a SureFire 6P LED and my wife has a SureFire G2 LED. Other than the fact that the 6P body is aluminum and the G2 body is polymer, they are identical. Both have the same aluminum bezzel, light, switch, etc.
They put out 80 lumens with new batteries and still put out 40 lumens after running for four hours. They are nearly indestructable. I cannot imagine a better flashlight. |

I've got the stinger without the dual switches. Everything else is the same. It's my 3rd flashlight since I carry a Fenix on my belt. Only uses a coule of AA batteries and it's about as bright as the Stinger, but much much smaller. I'm a 30" waist so I'm always trying to save space on my belt.
Other than that, it's been good so far. Easy to operate and hasn't failed me yet.

I decided to go with the Fenix Digital L2D Black Premium Q5 for a belt light and am leaning towards the Pelican 7060...I'll let you know what I think of the Fenix light when it gets here this week

The only reason I did not go with the L2D is because I like momentary switches. Fenix discontinued making the L2T 2.0, which sort of pissed me off. I may end up replacing it with a Fenix T1 when it dies.

Good choice, that's what I keep on my belt at work. It's really freaking bright in "turbo" mode, but can be used in low, etc if you just need a little bit of light without blinding yourself. Go get some rechargeable 2500mah batteries from walmart and you've got yourself the best bargain in flashlights around. I've been thinking about buying the Fenix T1 tactical light and doing the same (getting recharable CR123s) It's got an actual reflector of decent size so it throws the light a lot further and is 225 Lumens for 1.5 hours continuous, and costs 86 bucks! Surefire can't hold a candle to that! (Pun intended) |

Speaking of Surefire...I was browsing CandlePowerForums to try and get some thoughts on the flashlights...check out this new one from Surefire:
Surefire Optimus Between that and a X300, I think my uniform allowance for next year is in danger
