Hang in there. One of our local PO schools here still uses revolvers to qualify... The other requires a Glock

+1 on this. Check it out before you go to the local gun store. While they're not among my favorites, I have to admit Glock makes a damn fine pistol.

It could be worse - you could have gotten stuck by some a**hole demanding you buy a S&W Sigma (DAO and 14+ lbs trigger pull!)....

+1 on that - I have one and I swear, the first time I took it to the range, I almost blew my big toe off! It felt like I had to have BOTH my strong hand and support hand trigger fingers working on that SOB to get it to go "BANG!!"

Measured the pull when I got home at just over 14 lbs.

Looked around and found this page

Smith & Wesson Sigma Series Trigger FIX!!! (SW9VE, SW40VE) - THR

Followed the directions and finally got a trigger pull of about 8 lbs, which isn't bad. The final step really worked out well - polishing with the fine emery cloth and dry firing the H*LL out of it.

Nice duty pistol now - and there are plenty of large cap mags available at cheap prices.....

I guess I got lucky. My chief lets me carry mine, and in fact wants to test fire it the next time we go to the range.

Unfortunately I have a glock 22 for duty and it has a ny-1 spring in it making the trigger pull like 10lbs.

Yeah, a lot of our drills consisted of, "Load six rounds into your weapon and holster up. On command, you will draw and fire six rounds into your target."

It seems they decided to allow semis, but didn't bother to upgrade their courses of fire.
