mine is always holstered in the glove box.
i put all my insurance and registration into my owners manual and keep it in a pouch behind the seat. occasionally when im feeling unsafe i will keep the gun, still holstered, next to the seat. if i were to get pulled over i would put the gun back if i had it out, then have the info ready before the LEO got to me. i dont have my permit yet, but either way i wont be mentioning the gun unless necessary. if asked i would tell them but im not going to just tell em i have a gun to worry em if its just a simple speeding violation. does not matter much since ive only been pulled over 2 real times(cop friend pulled me over to BS a few times), not counting that. the cop friend said he gets a few people that show their permits without asking and they generally wonder why the person would need it and get a little suspicious. that or they think you want a cookie or something for having the permit and the know its EASY to get a permit and many people with them shouldnt have them.

i was stopped last night. first thing i did was put my hand on the steering wheel and told him was that i have a loaded firearm under my seat, then asked him what he'd like me to do. he said thank you, and asked me to step out, then took the gun put it in his car, and we then carried on like normal. h dropped the ticket to a much lesser charge, we then talked about my interests in becmoing an LEO.
im also going to the class next week to get my CCW. i want to have it asap, also just in case i dont get accepted to become a CO(though ive been told by the recruiting officer it shouldnt be a problem) i just need to find a case to conceal it. my HS is kinda big, and i want to hold off on getting another gun till i know if im going to get this job or not.
