I took one of the magazines and placed it against a flat surface. I pressed gently and "reformed" the dimple so it was now flat. The mag was inserted into the XD-45 and it worked flawlessly during testing. I'll be going to the range soon and will be interested to see how long the mag functions properly.
I also called SA Customer Service today and they said they'd trade my mags for new ones. They seemed surprised to hear of my problem. I appreciate their support and hope for the best in getting mags that don't warp. I'll see if I can get a photo uploaded in the near future. Thanks to all - Wayne. |

I called SA today, and they told me to send them back and they will replace them for free and repay me for the shipping. I have two other brand new mags that I havent used yet, I hope those are ok.

It goes "bang" and cycles just fine. Its just that the mags don't drop free of the gun. Changing the weight of the mag spring may adversly affect how the gun cycles.

Sticking Mags...
I have had the same issue which is actually why I joined this forum. I have a XD45 service and a XD45 Tactical, 10 mags between them and every single mag does it. It's noticibly worst when hot; I shoot IDPA and I can without eqivocation say that it's both guns and any mag I use beyond 100 rounds; even the new ones Springfield keeps sending me. They act like I'm the only one who has even called in on this and I'm begining to disbelieve them. I'm using good ball ammo from a variety of manufacturers. I've seen a few threads posted about the upper lip of the mag getting deformed which I'm going to try today. I LOVE both guns so don't get me wrong but it's pretty frustrating and I'm using my HK until I can get if figured out...seems clear with both guns that it is a mag problem and not the gun.
Does anybody know of any aftermarket mags that seem to be heavier duty that might be worth trying? Thanks and Semper Fi! |

Went to the local gun show today. Bought an XD9 (blued) with Trijicon night sights. Word on the internet is that only mag problems previously mentioned occur with the XD45 and not the other calibers...hmmmmm.
Tomorrow the new XD9 and I go to the range to see if this theory applies to me. This will be my third new XD since December...it better work right...I really like the XD series pistols but if they don't pull their weight then it's back to the Glock...I'll just make double certain not to catch anything in the trigger guard...don't want to shoot myself in the butt like a couple of unsuspecting Sheriff's deputies did here recently...which is why I switched to the XD. Keep me and my little XD9 in your thoughts and prayers...we've got a lot riding on this. Stay Tactical - Wayne. |

I've been to the range twice now with the XD9 and put about 250 rounds through it. I've only used one magazine and so far it's working just fine. There's no evidence of a problem regarding the magazines ability to drop free.
I'll keep you posted as I spend more time with the XD9 and both XD45's. Stay Tactical - Wayne. |

"My prediction: you will not have
a drop free mag problem on any of the machines except the .45!" Ed I'm thinking you may be right. That leaves me with only one question: Why? Anyone have a possible answer? Thanks to all - Wayne. |

I have six 40sc mags. The oldest 3 will not drop out unless the added weight of unfired cartridges remain. I've tried Armorall and other lubricants with no luck. I thought of trying to lightly squeeze them in a vise but haven't gotten around tuit yet. I'll let you know how or if it works.
