The Gilroy Dispatch "More arrests in copper theft operation" SF Examiner "Copper thieves plundering Treasure Island" Not copper related but funny: When I was in the Marines we were at the Chocolate Mountains near The Salton Sea in southern California. There was a large squatter camp off base. We did a hasty displacement, where we load up all essential gear and move out as if being over run. Anyway, we left behind our camo netting still up on the aluminum poles. When my Battery returned to our position the netting was laying on the ground and the aluminum poles were missing. The squaters off base must have been watching us and took the poles to sell as scrap. Another time in the Philippines, the forward observers called check fire and we were forced to stop firing. A bunch of idiots were in the impact area collecting fragments from our arty rounds. When we would do ambushes on each other using blanks. It got annoying because the kids from the village were following us. They were collecting the spent casings as we were shooting. Hard to hide with a bunch of kids standing around waiting to catch brass. They loved the SAW gunners.

Its a tough situation.
Get yourself an adt alarm system or some sort of monitoring alarm, get the builder to put pressure on the county. If there are tons of break-ins, wed naturally keep a presence in the area if at all possible.
