just what the title says, I am looking for a citys and state for a leo job I will be ets from the military in 2010 and want to get started on the search for a good department. MSHP recurtier has already contacted me and said drop a packet in earlier 09 well I want to make sure I get a god department but with decent pay(hours I don't mind). I know of one small city(in Kansas) that has 8 ptrol officers and pays 35,00 a year. Anywhere else I should look into

I work in Kirkwood MO. We are 5 short right now. Starting pay is around $45,000 I think, top out in 10 years at 63,000.

We are about 20 min outside St. Louis.

wow 45k not bad...I have heard a lot of bad things about the department for a few buddys of mine who live there. They say there are quite abit of crooked cops(haven't seen any by me only hear say) but I will look into it. I also want to say sorry for the departments recent lose of five officers. my regards to the family's and friends of the officers.

Like I said I have yet to see a crooked cop in kirkwood, now Rolla PD that is a Different story....I got pulled over because I had a low tire...then he searched my car(with my consent). They stoped once they say my Badge. That will teach them.

Joplin, Mo starts at about 40-45k, from what I last heard ( I had a couple of friend on PD there)... that was 7 1/2 yrs ago.. probably a little more now. It is a town of 45-55,000 people in SW Missouri... 30 minutes from all the good fishing holes in Oklahoma

and a fantastic D-Day re-enactment every year.

The OK D-Day Paintball....I have been plaining a trip to be in that. Joplin's not to far from home...I will make that down a a good place to look into. thank you for that one..I almost forgot it was there

Check out KC I have heard that you are going to have to go with the bigger depts in MO if you want to get paid over 30k a year.

come on up to northern IL, most of the bigger suburbs start in the mid to upper 50's and top out for patrol in 5-6 years at about 72-80K.

but, you'd have to live in the sh*tty state

yeah I was leaning more towards KCMO or just the troopers....I this KC only starts at 37k or so. I'm keeping that one open mainly cuz I know the area pretty well.

mike I'm gonna stay away from IL they are very very anti-gun and anti-CCW. It would feel to much like the military...I already have the higher ups watching my every move...I'd rather not give the anti's a reason to talk
