I have two, either of which I may wear depending on what I am doing on that particular day. My regular patrol vest is a Safariland level II, I dunno what model, sorry.

My other vest, which is considerably heavier and thicker is a Paca level II ballistic/level III stab. I wear this one when I am working the bars, parties or special events where I am going to be on foot in crowds.

I wear Force One level II. BTW- Hard shock plates will be gone soon, they are finding that they are killing alot of officers then they save.... because when they got in car accidents it stabs them in the sturnum. Not a good day.

I remember the first one i had issued back in 1973. It was just like a T-shirt all it was only good for one thing. The M.E. could pull on the shirt and pop the bullet out of your body. Then we went to the Second Chance with the steel trauma plate. Hot in the summer Cold in the winter. but well worth it.
Only problem is that the vest (cover) would wear out fast.

It is a comfortable vest, but....

I have to vent on this topic. I personally think concealable body armor for patrol officers is rediculous. Everyone knows we're wearing it. I'm a big fan of tactical style uniforms, not the dress class A style uniforms so many of us are still wearing. I would rather wear a higher threat level vest on the outside of my clothing. Don't get me wrong, dress uniforms have their place...just not on patrol.
Yup cause you wan to tell the cracked out insane guy thats not thinking straight to shoot you in the head.

I'm not LEO, I'm a marine, but my opinion is get something comfortable so that you'll wear it. I'd go for class 3 personally, but in Detroit 70% of murders are 9mm, 11 and 10% are 38 specials and 380s (don't remember which goes with which number) so get something that will stop +P 9mm

get as much protection as you will wear, for if you won't wear it your better off with the cheaper thinner stuff that you will wear

and it spreads impact in a way so it all hits you at once, as of which kills females when you get hit if they are of a small frame, the shock stops their heart. but if you live 5 seconds your good, and your larger so..
