P.O.S.T. Entrance Exam...Utah

So I'm taking my entrance exam for the acadamy on the 27th of this month and am wondering if anyone out there has any insight on this test for me. I'm going to talk w/ a friend on the dept I am going to work for <if I pass> later this week but was hoping to get a jump on studying. I just am not sure exactly what I can study for and if it's a test I can even study for. My thought is that it is a general test of english, grammer, math etc. I can't find a study guide at my local library so any info would be great. I think I'm a pretty sharp guy and am hoping that I'll do good as I have a slot at the acadamy if I pass it.

Thanks as always guys, I know I don't post much lately but between three jobs and a new baby at home, I don't have the most time...

Thanks again for any help.

study

4 sections. The grammar is what was hard for me. Go to the library and rent out the POST study guide. I bought mine off of amazon for $10 with shipping. The book has 4 pre test you can take, they seemed to help. I received a 96 overall. HERE IS THE BIG ONE "" REMEMBER YOUR PUNCTUATION"" on the report section. Good Luck.

did you take the utah post test? also, what type of math is on the test? i haven't been in school for almost 10 years and probably should brush up on my math skills as that is probably the only thing I might not remember. Also, it's all multiple choice correct?

Thanks again.

There are 4 sections. The math is pretty basic. Mostly adding and subtracting, and some multiplication. Not sure about division and there's no algebra. Most of the questions are story problems.

Something like "Store keeper X reported a buglary. ### TV's were taken worth $150.00 each, ### VCR's were taken worth $100.00 each, etc. What's the total value of the items taken?" Basic stuff like that

I don't believe they give you a calculator, but they do give you scrap paper to work the math problems out with. As for being multiple choice, I believe they are, but don't recall for sure. I took it over two years ago and took tests for other states around the same time, so it's all a blur. But it's not a very difficult test. Study up on basic english/grammar and math and you should be fine.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Got it - thanks for your help. All my buddies that have taken it in the last couple of years told me the same thing. I am still nervous of course. Thanks again for your insight.
