Can you carry firearm in your glovebox without a CCL?

Just wondering if this is legal, whether its locked glove box or unlocked. I live in MD, and would like to have one with me. If its not legal, what are the repercussions? Thanks in advance.

Laws are different in each state. Here in Florida, it is legal to keep a firearm in a glove box without a permit. I have a permit and keep a backup in the center console, and another in my locked briefcase at work.

IN MD you're pretty much done for IIRC, whether or not your going to be facing felony or misdemeanor charges I don't know.

Check your State Attorney Generals Website and Sate Police Websites.

Never take anyone's word on legalities unless they provide a link to the actual laws.

I believe in Ohio your unloaded weapon must be in a location that requires you to exit the car to get to it.

In indiana it must be unloaded and anny ammo must be in a seperate compartment of the vehicle that can't be accessed from the passenger compartment.(Ex. gun in passenger compartment ammo in trunk, truck bed etc.) otherwise CCW required. Had it explained the hard way!

Sounds like Indiana & Ohio are the same for those carrying without the permit.

In the trunk. Keeps people from impulsively shooting someone during a fit of road rage. If its in the trunk than your less likely to pursue it.

Obviously, the law's different in every state. In MD, you're facing some of the nation's worst gun laws, in a state run by a bunch of pusillanimous pansy DemocRATs.

In many of the Southern states, you can carry a loaded handgun in your glove box, console, or in plain view, without a permit.

From the NRA website - Maryland Laws:

Quote:
It is unlawful for any person without a permit to wear or carry a handgun, openly or concealed, upon or about his person. It is also unlawful for any person to knowingly transport a handgun in any vehicle traveling on public roads, highways, waterways or airways, or upon roads or parking lots generally used by the public. This does not apply to any person wearing, carrying or transporting a handgun within the confines of real estate owned or leased by him, or on which he resides, or within the confines of a business establishment owned or leased by him.
A person may transport a handgun if they can demonstrate that the handgun is being carried, worn or transported:
• To or from a place of legal purchase or sale, or repair shop;
• Between a person’s bona fide residences, or between his residence and place of business, if the business is operated and substantially owned by that person;
• While engaged in, or traveling to and from a target shoot, formal or informal target practice, sport shooting event, hunting, trapping, or dog obedience training class or show; or
• By a bona fide gun collector who is moving any part or all of his gun collection from place to place for public or private exhibition.
During transportation to and from the above places the handgun must be unloaded and carried in an enclosed case or enclosed holster.
