Where do YOU work?

Her guys/girls, just wondering.......

1.) Which department/agency/organization/office do you work for?

2.) Do you like it? What are your future goals/dreams (as far as promotion, etc.)

I work patrol for Davis PD, near Sacramento, CA. I hold collateral duties as a Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer and E.O.D. Tehnician. I enjoy my job enormously and hope to be promoted to Corporal sometime around the middle of next year. Long term, I hope to retire as a Sgt.

I own a business doing large scale data processing (grid/cluster/supercomputing)

My professional goals... hrmm...

To promote myself to retired as soon as I can.

Oh yeah..

I love it enormously it's just that I have to put so much time into it... and it's always a mental challenge.
It's fast paced and high stress...

Thumbs up

I'm an Independent Computer Consultant and semi-retired rent-a-cop. I've been on Disability for about ten years, but before that I was a corporate Data Processing Manager and rather less retired rent-a-cop. (Armed Programmer....)

I did QC work and started in Shipping before that.... Not to mention Telcom and Security at the former day job.

Eclectic-R-Us, I guess.

When it comes to LE, I've been there.... I spent a lot of time back in the late 60's as an Auxiliary Officer. Ride-alongs and solo (in my own car) work. Did OPOTA back then - 1967-1968 - too.... If I was starting that again, I'd probably not.... Things have really changed. (I was in the City PD's Roll Call room when the first "Miranda" cards were distributed. Told you I was old....)

I don't know how the new guys do it....

My mom had a theft, and I helped the Township Detective with the investigation. Nothing special - just took some pictures and listed things - but it felt good .... However two notes: She was about 2 when I pinned on my first badge (I'm 61). And it wasn't an Official Investigation. We never got to a strip club. You know that it's not real unless you go to one of those....

(My wife wouldn't let me keep her either. Which probably made the little Detective very happy.... I did mention that she's pretty cute and very bright....)

Never got into Fire.... Very separate service around here.... I was in a burning building once - helping a couple FD guys look for some keys - but their boss insisted I go play someplace else. Safe enough, but probably not a good idea to be in there.

I used to answer alarm drops at the former day job all the time. Some fool told 'em that I had a pager and a gun.... I never really minded that.

(The Guard Service was a little interesting. We did "vacation patrols" on houses, among other things. One night I got a call - I keep a radio on the channel most of the time - that one of the houses "didn't quite look right". Being about a block away, I drove over. It definitely didn't look right. Amy had forgotten her glasses and was checking the wrong house....)

Regards,

Federal Agent in Southern Texas.

It's an absolute blast, best job in the world.

Goals? Well, it'd be nice to promote and go back to NY at some point.

1) Applications engineer for a rep firm, specializing in gas detection. Both for safety and control.

2) Love it! It's a self-promoting position. My compensation is directly tied to my input. The only limit I face is the 24 hour day.
