Araine,
Thats pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. The area where I work is ok, but I'd much rather be working in a larger city, for a larger department, with more opportunities to advance. Even if we transition into a PD here, its going to be slooooow. No thanks. I'm 24, I'd rather get some REAL experience working for a larger agency. How is the Mesa area as far as housing goes? I've got a wife, a son, and in december I'll have a second son. Are there pretty nice areas in the city that are good for raising a family? What about the outlaying areas? Any suggestions? Everyone, I know we've strayed off topic here, but thats ok. Any input on the polygraph is still welcome.

Many officers live in Queen Creek (great homes for the money, but longer commute) Gilbert or Maricopa (same as QC but other side of the valley) I live in Mesa and my commute is less than 10 min to any of the four stations I can work from. There are good parts of Mesa but many bad ones. As you would expect the nicer ones cost more than they would in the out lying areas like QC. Its a good market for buyers and 200-250 will get you a lot of home (more the farther out you go).

I really didnt have a problem with the poly.. at first i was sweating bullets because when I joined the military I was 100% honest about things I had done while in college (ie .. smoking pot) and I thought that would be held against me... but I explained that it was a 1 time experimentation and never happened again when I did my interview with the CO..i think it kinda helped that I had a copy of my military records on hand to show that what i said was true...
