Gun Confiscation Survey

There is a thread in the political forum about Illinois trying pass rather restricitive gun laws to the point of ultimately confiscating guns. I posed the following question: If guns were to be confiscated wholesale because of passage of a law mandating confiscation, how many LEO's would be willing to execute that directive? Bear in mind part of the oath I took was to uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Show of hands: I vote no way.

I'm not a cop yet. I hope to be in a year so I check this forum and the title really caught my eye. Good question! I've often wondered what the officials in New Orleans were thinking when they confiscated guns house-to-house. I am just amazed no-one had a shootout over it. Honestly if they showed up for my guns it would be a shootout and I would die. If I were an officer I would refuse my orders, plain as that. Like you said, it's the Constitution. This post makes me glad the 2nd Amendment was put into the WI State Constitution for good measure.

I'm betting the proposal in IL will fail on grounds of being unconstitutional/unpopular, but it does bring up a lot of questions. I hope many LEOs respond..

I'm also glad you're on our side.

they aren't confiscating any guns here that I know of, like mentioned above, they come and go every year or two, but the problem is the dems have control now, and IL is an easy target with dumbass Daley and Obama and Jesse Jr as well as all of Crook County....oh, and not to leave out Dick (and yes he is) Durbin.......

stay tuned, its gonna be a horrible couple of years here

if the Dems wanna keep that power they wont piss around with guns, atleast for a while. and I seriously doubt they will get as far as confiscation. and like i said, if they do, move. im sure when a significant part of the population leaves, or gets severely pissed off, they will cut the crap. after all, it is the 2nd amendment. they would have a hell of a time getting rid of that one, and more than likely wouldnt be worth the trouble

I was gonna say, how exactly are they planning on passing laws that countermand the 2nd amendment? I'm sure there's some sort of legalese way of making it work, but it sounds like the standard political "attention getter" the dems are so famous for. Put it in the same bin as the reactivate the draft bill from that retard Rangel in the People's Republic of New York.

You know guys, I always found it amusing yet distressing that the liberal knuckleheads think the Founding Forefathers were geniuses when it came to drafting the Constituition as it relates to Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Expression, Freedom of Religion..etc..etc..

But somehow when the discussion of the 2nd Amendment arises....surprise! They can't agree on the wording or the "true meaning" that the Forefathers meant when they wrote it!!

I always wanted to ask them, that if there was so much ambiguity or confusion in the 2nd Amendment, then maybe we've misinterpreted the other Amendments as well.
