I heard some were moving to the 5.7 USG by FHN. Don't know how true this is - most fed agencies are pretty close mouthed about what they're doing.

From what I've heard, this round is a real stunner, with super high speed and a decent weight at delivery. The pistol itself is ugly (IMO) and middle of the road in cost (about $800).

For my use, I'll stick with the .40 in JHP (Hornady TAP is my personal preference).

No stopping power, great penetration.
A terrific round for the P90, where you can hit the guy with 5-10 rounds.......

Yeah - that's the way I read it - the penetration is what brings them down, but you'll need a few well placed to do the job. Means more emphsis on "shot placement" (which is never emphsised enough anyway) in the training routine.

DHS got a contract with SIG SAUER for 65,000 pistols for different government agencies, read this article.

Border Patrol Agents just transitioned from Beretta 96's to P2000's in .40. I believe the CBPO's at ports transitioned from Glock 17's to the P2000. ICE agents are now being issued Sig's but still have plenty of Glocks and HK's floating around. That covers all of CBP and ICE. The Coast Guard issues Sig's as well, but I'm sure there's alot of M9's still there as well. Not sure about any other agencies.

Secret Service, FAMS, and FPS issue the 229 in 357SIG. In the case of USSS and FAMS, I believe it's the standard trigger rather than DAK.

the old fellow who sold me my spare 45 mags, had just switched to one from a 45 and said he liked it a lot. He said long range shots were a snap, and that since it has virtualy no kick, a volley of well aimed follow up shots is easy to do.

Enjoying my XD .45ACP Tactical. need to break in my 870, and my wife's XDSC9.

I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

HDR, Homeland Defense Rifle

Dhs/usbp

All US Border Patrol agents have begun transition training to the HK P2000 in .40 cal replacing the Beretta 96 Centurion. MOST of DHS uses .40 cal.
