Uncle Mikes Duty Suspenders?

I have been looking at picking up a pair of Uncle Mikes Suspenders for my duty rig. I dont know anybody that has used them or currently uses them. Anybody out there with opinions from personal use? Good, Bad, Otherwise? I know they look a little dorky, so we can skip over that.

I have been told by others though the grapevine, that they greatly help reduce fatigue on your back. Unfortunately I have yet to speak to anybody that really owns a pair. They also seem to be the only suspender that is made with the break-away feature to resist them being grabbed onto.

Anybody with firsthand experience or that have heard anything about them...your imput would be greatly appreciated!

Tried them - they work great (hold everything where it's supposed to be without consistently hitching your pants up). Couldn't get used to them after so many years without something like this, so now they hang in the closet....too bad.

Thanks Hacker...Sound good. Maybe I will have better luck with getting used to them. Hope they save on my back during those long weeks and shifts.

Glad to help. BTW, one of the guys in my rotation has a pair and uses them all the time. He swears by them. I liked them well enough, but I don't carry as much stuff as he does (everything from the flashlight to the ASP). I stick with the basics - pistol, cuffs, CS, mag holder and 2 extra mags, cell phone, and keys. He has it all - and some stuff I wouldn't carry even out on the street. Hey - as long as he feels OK with it.....I carried enough of that weight back in the day - on this job, it's not "required".

I hear you on that one Hacker. I carry the same as you, but also an expandable and a strion. Both of which are small, compact, and light so they dont really take up much space.

Plus with my physical build I couldnt really afford anymore stuff. When I only have a 33 inch waist to work with, I dont have a lot of room for doo-dads.

I was joking with my chief the other day that I would like to have Tasers, but I would need to get a drop leg, because I dont think I have enough room for another belt mounted holster!

the suspenders are great for taking the weight off your hips and back, but they are ------- looking, which you already know. we all use the H harness for swat, which is great for the same reason........all that tactical equipment pulls the pants down, even with the belts cranked tight, the belt still seems to be able to wiggle down over the hips with all the movement.

some of our patrol officers wear the outside vest carrier, and the suspenders are hidden under it. if back problems are generated higher up, towards the neck, the suspenders pulling weight on the shoulders will be cause for some pain too........ some shoulder holsters aggravate my neck issues pulling on my shoulders.

Suspenders have very little CDI factor.
The addition of them to your duty gear will most certainly cut down on Holstersniffers and Copsicles.

Priorities man, priorities...
