Don't want a glock
Hello all, I am new to the board but i need a bit of advice. I work for the dept. of corrections here in Oklahoma. I have been issued a g19 and have become a fairly decent shot with it. I want to get an xd just not sure about which one to get. I am a small guy and the xd that i get will fill several roles for me. i.e. ccw, carry weapon for resrves and home protection. I had a s&w sigma in 40 just didn't like the super heavy triggerpull on it.
I am pretty well set on a 4" model not sure if 9mm or .40 would be the better choice. any advice will be greatly helpful. |

Get the .40 and a 9mm aftermarket conversion barrel. You get 2 guns for almost the price of one.

+1 on the .40. 9mm's are for plinkers and children!

just kidding. But - unless you get your ammo for free, its a definite plus to have a 9mm gun. Not to mention the extra 4 rounds in the magazine. |

Good point, though. 9's are better than nothing!

yup.
The ranger sxt 9mm 127gr +p+ loads i believe do 1250 fps out of a 4 inch barrel. i wonder what they would do out of my 5 incher. velocity is key with these hollow points too. Dont get me wrong, i dig the .40 load, but i really dislike the fact that the xds only hold 12.. if they could make a .40 version in the 45 frame, now that would be cool. |
