It comes down to price and when they come in with free to 200.00 per gun including holster and mag pouch it is easy to see why they have a large market. We now see Smith doing the same things with the M&P and they are gaining back some of the LEO community. They have done so here in the Tampa area where Clearwater Police, Tampa Police have both gone to the M&P40.

Here in NM our police are using the M&P. Haven't seen a glock on a local leo in a year or two.

My agency is switching from the H&K USP40 to Glock fotays. Our source is swapping one-for-one; A worn out USP for a new Glock.

Ya the worn out HK still holds more value than your new prized glock leg award.

My condolences to you all.
Bows head silenly.

I hated having to carry the glock 40

The reasons:

Cheap
Reliable
Good timing
Holds allot of Ammo
Not many parts
Easy to teach
Easy to clean
Good Salesman

When SA went shopping for their polymer pistol I am sure the qualifications that was spoken was it has to be as reliable as a Glock, hold a comparable amount of ammo, and be easy to operate and strip as a Glock. Glock is the benchmark that all polymer pistols strive to achieve. I think XD has achieved it but others disagree.

Wait a minute now. I'm not a Glock carrier; I carry one of three personnal XDs at work.

Like I said earlier; the Glock is satisfactory. I don't mind the pistols as much as I do the Glock lovers who end thier prayers with "Bless Gaston Glock", and refuse to speak civily about another platform.

at this point Glocks are kept (and LEOs carry them personally) for the following reasons:

LE Departments know how to keep them up.
LEO's are trained on them.
LE Departments have the equipment and accessories for them.

Since coming out of the Academy (where I received the only firearms training I have ever had) I...I...

I have a confession to make...

I now carry my Glock 19 exclusively.

There it is: I'm out of the closet.

*makes 'XD' on chest*

I will continue to pray to the XD gods for forgiveness, though their wrath is certainly upon me.

Just for the record, my G19 hiccupped in the first 50 rounds. My XD NEVER hiccuped. EVER. No round count on the XD, but Ive been shooting it for nigh unto 2.5 years, approximately monthly, 1-2 boxes of TulAmmo.

I think using the 115 gr. tulammo was the problem for my G19: it might not be snappy enough to cycle the gun with the heavier recoil spring they include.

*edits post again*

(not to hijack this thread any more than I already have)

Wait a minute!!

this was my 500th post!!!!!!

Hooray for me!
