L/E duty ammo question

This is a discussion on L/E duty ammo question within the LEO Talk forums, part of the Protect & Serve category; I trust Speer Gold dots on duty. I would also trust Fed HST. (Federal EFMJ during winter in MN) IIRC they are also on top ...

I trust Speer Gold dots on duty. I would also trust Fed HST. (Federal EFMJ during winter in MN) IIRC they are also on top of the list for best weight retention through auto glass.

We only use winchester ranger 147 gr JHP.

No experience with the ammo you carry. My department issues Winchester Ranger LEO .45 in 230 gr. Great ammo for duty carry, but you'd better hit what your intending to because this stuff keeps on moving. One of my coworkers was involved in a close-quaters shooting with a knife wielding suspect - one shot stop to the chest and the suspect was pronounced black before he got to the hospital.
