interesting, hard, long week at the SO.

So we work 12 hour shifts at the SO and because of that, get a lot of days off. Well, Wednesday and Thursday were off days for our shift, but i had to be at work anyways. On Wednesday, I had Pepperball Gun certification and Defensive tactics class. I have a huge welt on my leg from the pepperball gun! Then on Thursday was OC Spray certification and firearms. Wow!!!! If you have never been sprayed by teh OC, I actually suggest getting certified in it because its good to know what to expect if your partner or another officer lets loose with it and you catch some spray, and then you also get to carry it after that. It will put most people on their ass! So I worked 7 days this week. I was sooooo spent by last night when I got off. The upsdie is, I got some killer overtime. They payed us 20 hours for the 12 I worked on Easter, plus I have the two days I was in on teh weapons systems training. I can't wait for my paycheck!

Nice. I have some OC but never tried it on myself. Sounds like a fun job. How much hours do they require you to work per week normally?

hahahaha If you try it on yourself you will have a profound respect for it.
i ussually get 86 hours a paycheck ussually (bi weekly)

it's comparable.

definitely incapacitating when you aren't expecting it. burns like hell if it gets directly in your eyes.

have a big bowl of water or a can of the neutralizer spray handy before you do it, though.

i found that rubbing baby shampoo directly on the surface of my eyeball helped a little bit.

try huge amounts of cool water......works nicely

on a serious note, as far as OC spray goes, dont rely on it as a 100% stopper......it isn't. some people it has no real effect on. and anyone with "skills" and is highly motivated will fight right thru the effects of OC. The biggest problem coppers have when using OC on a highly aggressive and motivated attacker is the copper will spray the jagoff and just stand still......this is bad........spray and MOVE, movement, distance and angles, this will keep the bad guy off you as he struggles thru the OC.....movement is critical, just like in a gunfight

the new tasers kick ass though.....yet to see anyone fight thru that fkr, and its HURTS.......

One of the officers I work w/ is a beast! O.C. doesn't work on him, pressure points don't work on him, and control techniques don't work on him! I'll have to talk to the chief deputy about getting some tasers just so I can see the big f#*%er go down. It'll suck to get hit with it myself though from what I've heard.

I made the mistake of watching videos of people being tased the night before I got my zap. Has anyone seen the clip of the bull being tased? Tasers are very effective.

I am a firm believer in the Taser. I would much rather be sprayed than tased again. I have seen the bull video and that was one pissed off bull when the ride was over. I love watching COPS and seeing them taser the hell out of these guys.
