Ok i need some help

ok My girlfriends yard keeps getting teenagers driving through it to tear it up. And her brothers car has been keyed and a bunch of other crap to their home but mostly they keep driving into the yard and running over the sprinkler systems that her dad spends alot of money on. So we've filed police reports even caught the kids and got there license plate numbers and the police pretty much said that these kids are minors and theres not much they can do. So I play paintball and i would love to unload a hopper full of paintballs onto their car the next time these guys decide to turf the lawn. Would there be any legal problems if i unloaded some paintballs onto their car since thery are vandalizing my property?

no, you can't shoot paintballs at the cars, but you can put BIG landscaping rocks on the lawn.

They could file assault charges; its a bad idea. Being that they are minors, you can file a claim in small claims court against the parents. File the police report, get an estimate for fixing the damage, then file the court papers. 1-2-3; easy.

I am no cop, but I know people who have done this and won. Plus, the kids never screwed with them again.

Spike strips at the edge of the lawn?

If you've had the opportunity to shoot them with paintballs you could just as easily take pictures or video and use that in your police report against them. I'm no LEO, but it seems to me with a little more proof than he said she said it would probably give them a chance to push it further.

well since the yard is getting torn up already, just dig a pit.. cover it with some sod supported on something easily collapsible, and let them drive into it? hah.. Then just say oh darn, soil below the grass must have eroded from teh broken sprinkler head they busted last time. Ok so you MIGHT get into trouble doing that.. it'd be cool tho.

I think you can either put landscaping rocks up that would damage their car if they choose to do it again, or just catch them on video and take them to court over it. If it means having to set up your camcorder on a tripod facing toward the area where it occurs for 8 hours recording to a VCR, then do it. There's nothing anyone can do to argue against video that catches them in the act.

Forget the paintballs, you are probably talking assault with a deadly weapon in most states; Ca. for sure. That's a felony.

The local leo were wrong about not being able to do anything to them because they are minors. Do the video thing as was suggested. File claims agains the parents as suggested. Obtain a restraining order and have the buggers arrested when they violate it, which they will.

When the money starts coming out of mommy and daddy's wallet, they will probably stop the problem. Otherwise, a lot of parents will just say, "My Johnny wouldn't do anything like that, he is a good boy...not my Johnny.

Well, I used to hear that all of the time. A video will hang good boy Johnny and his dirtbag friends. Everything else will be easy and the money will be nice. Don't worry about court costs; most judges award that in small claims cases to the winner.

Forget the paintball thing and whatever you do do not booby trap your yard, although the landscaping boulders would be good . Video tape is your friend. Sue the parents for damages the problems will stop.

Install these all around your yard.

And the next time they do it, "impound" their car. And then charge them for parking.
