Blade-tech for duty holster?

I'm considering a blade-tech holster for my XD 45 - anyone use one for on duty? I have a Safariland 6280 and like it (for Glock and XD .357 - .45 won't fit in it) - have never used a thumb-break model. What model would you recommend and why? Thanks!

I've ordered a droppd and offset model with the M3 light attached. The wait is currently about 5 weeks. It should be here in the next five days or so. I'll let you know how I like it.

thats what I carry every day, and its fantastic.......the factory setting for the retention was a bit too loose for my liking, but a few turns of the screws and its in there nice and snug.... (no thumb break)

you can get the one with the thumb break and the internal retention, which is considered a level II if thats a requirement.....and the thumb snap can be snapped out of the way so it becomes an open top with just the internal retention......

I put a picture of my thigh rig in another thread, which has the thumbsnap, its basically the same thing....

How does there internal locking device work? I like the 6280 since there isn't anything but the thumb cover to pull the weapon. I've tried the Uncle Mikes holster that you have to rock it backwards...really didn't like it. Thanks for the replies!

the inside is a perfect mold of the XD, its like they melt the plastic around the pistol, its pretty cool, so it fits like a glove, its a friction lock, no rocking, no weird twists of the grip etc.......the bottom of the holster (if holding it horizontal) (the bottom of the pistol) area of the holster has 2 screws, that you can tighten the holster panels so they squeeze the pistol tighter.......its pretty sweet, and it pulls straight out, just how tight you want that pull to be.....

Awesome! Sounds just like the 6280 - thanks. One more - does the thumb strap get in the way when trying to reholster with only one hand? I've heard some holsters require 2 hands to reholster- one moving the strap out of the way...Thanks again.

I'm using a Safariland 6285 for an XD40 and my XD45 fits it fine.

I snap the thumbbreak out of the way, so it slides in and locks, I only use the thumb snap when Im not using the pistol.....in other words, when transporting to the range or to a call out, Ill keep it snapped, as soon as we're getting ready to go, Ill snap off the thumb snap and lock it away so Im at a level one security....

OK, so I just received my holster. Exactly what I ordered, with one small problem. The thumbstrap was too short, just like every other XD holster when you put in a 45. Two minutes with a screwdriver and the problem was fixed.

I called Blade-Tech and passed along the info. They said, "Thanks for the feedback, I'll let our production guys know." Whether or not they fix the problem, who knows; at least I tried.

Other than that...the holster is great; it looks nice, fits the gun well and is easy to draw from. I go back on duty Sunday night and will begin the duty test.

Great! Keep us informed of the duty test. I have to wait until Sept to get qualified to carry the XD - I used a Sig in the academy so I must use it until our requal in Sept. I've considered the Blackhawk LE Duty holster too - there isn't one for the XD yet - the Level 3's are due out mid/late year.
