Question for Georgia LEO
I have heard several things about how to carry a gun in your car in Georgia. One guy at a gun shop told me I could keep it wherever I choose in my car like the console glovebox or anywhere basically because in Ga your car is the same as your house. I read something the other day that if the officer cant see it then its concealed. If I am riding alone its easy to put it on the seat and that way he can see it, but if my wife is with me, there is basically nowhere I can put it in plain sight without worrying about it sliding around. My question is, if I got stopped with my wife in the car, and my gun in the glovebox, would that be considered concealed? I plan to get my ccw but for now I dont have one and the thought of a concealed weapons charge for trying to protect me and mine is scary.

I'm not l.e.o., but do know the answer to your question. In GA, without a firearms permit, but assuming that you're otherwise qualified to obtain a permit, one may legally carry a loaded handgun in the glove compartment, console, or in plain view. (The "otherwise qualified" means that 18-20 yr-olds can't carry legally in a motor vehicle.)
