King County Sheriff's Office, WA state
Howdy all-
Just curious if anyone in the group has any experience with the King County Sheriff's Office. I'm currently a senior at Central Washington University, and am considering applying to the KCSO as an entry level deputy. I'm also considering the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office as well. Any feedback? Thanks all |

I'd go for the King's County position, it is easier to pronounce.

Might also look into Pierce County. Housing prices down there are, for the most part, going to be lower in the south sound than up in the King/Snohomish county areas (actually, snohomish county is probably not that bad).
Might also keep an eye on Vancouver, WA. We are probably going to be annexing a huge area (will become second largest city in the state afterwards I believe). With the annexation, they will be needing to hire something like 100 officers. Starting pay is around $47,000+ from what I can tell.

I dont' live in Seattle anymore, but I had been applying w/ WSP before I moved back to Utah. That's a good agency, with a lot of room to move around. King County is pretty much urban, until you stretch out east a little bit vs Snohomish which has a lot more rural, but plenty of urban area too. May or may not make a difference to you, but something to consider. Pierce County isn't a bad idea as someone suggested. If you wanna bust meth labs, that's the place to be. I love watching COPS reruns and seeing how many episodes are w/ Pierce County. I know PCSO was contracted for Lakewood and University Place. Not sure what other cities. I lived right on the south end Tacoma/Pierce border and there was always smack going down. If you looking for excitement, I'd look PCSO.
As for living, Lynnwood is a good place for Snohomish. I lived there, and Kent, which is also a nice town, then moved to Tacoma. I wouldn't recommend Tacoma; University Place is nicer and Puyallup is good too for Pierce County. Wish I knew more about benefits, pay, and such. I'm sure they are all fairly competitive, considering the three counties are the state's most populous. Good luck and have fun! |

Wait...I worded it wrong....try this:
As someone else has already suggested, Pierce County is not a bad idea. [It would be worthy of looking into.] Sorry, my bad. Nothing like typing at 5:00 in the morning on the downard side of a graveyard shift to. |
