Concealed Carry laws In PA?

Does any one know the concealed carrying laws/rules/regs in PA?

1. Does it have to be completely concealed under clothing, or can you carry it open on a hip holster? (e.g. walking into wal-mart with my xd clearly visable on my hip) I'd feel stupid for doing that and won't, but just curious.

2. What other states honor PA carrying permits?

3. I know that courthouses, schools, colleges are a no go and also establishments that have written rules barring carrying firearms, but what other places or establishments are a no go for carrying a firearm? Can you carry a firearm into a local bar if it doesnt state otherwise?

And finally:

4. What are the rules for using deadly force? ( I understand that it is when you or someone else feels that they are in immediate threat of serious bodily harm and you feel that you cannot safely retreat, then deadly force is authorized) Do i understand that correctly?

If anyone can help out to answer these it would be greatly appreciated. Or if you know of any relevant links or sites to direct me to.

Thanks guys

You know what sucks about PA?

They hand out CCW permits without ensuring the training of the recipient...not a class, not a written or oral test of the laws, not even handing out a pamphlet about the rules....or at least that is my experience in Monroe County (as well as my husband's, and three of our friends).

I actually have mixed feelings about the pay and play policy regarding concealed carry permits.

But this is what I've gotten from it.

I think it's up to the individual to be responsible enough to seek out training prior to pursuing a carry permit.

I'd imagine AK and VT don't require any test.

And what's wrong with that? If you think about our surrounding states, they don't even issue CCW's.

yes that is true about them never handing out any information about the law or regulations. All i did was walk in with $25 and had my permit within 20 mins. All i have done is ask the guys who would most likely know alittle about it....the gun store owners. Havent had the chance to bumb into to any LEO's to ask them yet. But i think i will run down to the sheriffs office in my county (Jefferson) and ask them.
