Just wondering what the starting pay is in your county on being a police officer.

most police departments here start around 50K, and top out around 75K or so after 5 years.....

Yea. Well I heard in Santa Clara the starting pay is $70K. Up north here I heard it was ~75 starting. Up north in Alameda county, its $70K per year $700 uniform bonus with a top step pay of $110K. Top step pay can be achieved after 4 years (of starting patrol) with a Masters degree, 6 yrs with a Bachelors, 9 yrs with an AA/AS.

If all the counties around here was that good I wouldn't mind signing up.

Yeah, you are right. It sucks. They don't even provide a weapon or body armor.

And, if you read my other thread about my WONDERFUL day yesterday, it makes me want to do some other lame job, like flipping burgers or open my own gun store

Actually, it's not so bad because I'm using it as a stepping stone, and I grew up here. But 11.00 an hour is SUCK.

I mean, it's like I'm enforcing the law with my brother's kids.

I'm a Detention Officer here in Maricopa County. We start at $14.99/hr. I think our deputies start at $19.60 or so. Most of the municipal PDs here start a little higher than that.
