Being a "young" driver - Opinions Welcome (Long)

I didn’t know were I should post this, but anyway...

I'm 18, therefore have been driving for over two years. (I know not a real long time or anything, but for a while. I was driving home from sears alone on a Saturday night a few months ago. I was pulled over and got the do you know how fast you were going... I was polite and answered I don't think anymore than 45. He said more like 55. The limit was 40. Gave him my license, reg., and weapon permit and got them back with a ticket. I have never been pulled over before I have a clean appearance and am very polite, it would have been nice to get a warning. Hell I even thanked him when he handed me the fine. I don't speed often at all anyway, and didn't realize I was going as fast as I was... He had me on radar so I didn't see any way around it but to pay. Me being inexperienced at braking the law I have never been to court and was intimidated by that, so I paid the fine. A few days later I got a wonderful letter in the mail from the DMV telling that my license was pending suspension do to my recent conviction... In NH there is an under 21 law; first offense 20 days, second 45, and third 90 I believe... Well I was shocked. I work full time and I'm a student, I'd consider my self to be a "good young adult" thank god I could appeal it, which I did and won. I had to take a day of from work to do so, so between the fine and the day off it was about a $200 ordeal. Lesson learned! Like I said before I really never was a speeder before, but now I don't at all... Which tend to cause more harm then good. Tailgating is so irritating!!! “Oh just pull over”, everyone says that not always safe to do and is a pain in the ass more so then the tailgating it’s self . (“Not to start a war”) I really hate the fact that at 18-20 you’re an adult, but still have so many restrictions that go way passed driving... I'm sure everyone in my age group feels the same way.

To end this long post I will remind you that I’m just sharing my life’s experiences with you and am not just complaining…

I told a cop I was doing 65 in a 45 after I rolled my truck (168' of skid marks, a nice barrel roll and another 70 feet of skid marks before I stopped. I think 65 was a touch low). I got 'Driving Too Fast For Conditions' which I fought and ended up 'donating' $30 to whatever fund they wanted. Clean record. That was at 18.

When I was 22 or so, I left a parking lot in my truck with a nice little burnout. Too bad I didn't see the female cop in the other entrance to the parking lot. She pulled me over. I had myself, my buddy and his sister in the car. My buddy wasn't wearing his belt (middle seat in the truck) but his sister and I were. I don't think the cop noticed though. My plates were an old style plate that was supposed to be a $70 fine. The sticker on it was out of date. My insurance paper was illegible, I didn't have a front plate and there was obviously the speeding. I got a written warning.

Sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you're not. (note: neither of the above was in Ohio)

too fast for conditions was the right ticket to get........no biggie, lucky to be alive!!

as far as the other incident, I love a good smoke show !! burn them fkn tires up .....I could give 2 craps, the only time I would get out the ticket book in patrol would be if people pull that stuff in front of me "and" other people are around...its like slapping the cop in the face, we're almost obligated to do it.....if nobody is around and you wanna leave a patch for 200 feet, have a ball........but, it better be a posi trac or the tickets coming for leaving a one legged non-hot rod, lame-o moms station wagon single rubber line.......

I took is as "whittey", as in witty, not "whittey", as in Whitey. Maybe he's just clever?
