I got a call last night around 10:30pm, that two subjects all dressed in black are behind the Public Library (CLOSED MIND YOU)

and the reporting party hears banging and hacking sounds....I arrive along with a county deputy...We locate two of my more famous Idiots, stonded out of thier minds....armed with razors, pliers, screwdrivers and a large knife....

now for anyone in the real world, what do you think they were doing? I found pry marks on the rear door of the library.....Well, this is what I did!

I held them there, called the States Attorney (protocol), and asked for felony permission (charges)....Even with the burglary tools the time, all the circumstances involved here, I was told to "LET THEM GO".....SO they walk away with a smile, laughing! the reporting party is yelling at us (me and the deputy) for letting them go!

I give up, I want to retire!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't get it. Why would you need permission to arrest them, and why did they tell you to let them go?

That's assinine at best. I don't get...nevermind. I just don't get it.

Oh, and a quick thanks for putting up with all the BS to be a LEO anyway. We appreciate it. Well, maybe not the guy who made the call, but you know...

Our system here in my county, say's that the States Attorney shall be advised for a arrest in the FELONY nature....so if he or one of the assitant's say, NOT ENOUGH! let them go, let them go you shall....I know it is crazy, and trust me it torks us off too......

The two mopes statements were, they were looking for a free bible!

The states attorney told me, how can you discount this! I said, well "THEY ARE CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and these two knuckle heads can't READ!

I take it you are more likely in SoIl. That whole state's enforcement guidelines are screwed up. Every officer I've talked to from there (went to school in Chicago and have friends and family from Champaign and Decatur north) has had some similair story. And here we all thought the good ole boys only lived in the south. Is your DOC really that stacked up that they (SAG) will let a slam dunk case go?

Thats what they tell me, I have a couple of close friends that work for IDOC, they tell me they are all cramped..,... don't like it at all...You are correct this started in the Chicago land area, and now has spread out....
If I take a punch in the nose or worse, I still have to call for felony approval....otherwise we take the chance of the SA dismissing charges and you in a law suit!

Thats O.K. though...only 12 more years to my 25, and I am outta HERE!

Think I'll move down south, develop a accent, and go fishing everyday!

Well yea, I thought the idea of justice was to wrong the rights and defend the rights of criminals everywhere, so what are you complaining about?

Seriously its sad that the criminals regularly have the upper hand, legally. You should have the SAG's office start responding to calls, that way they can just handle it all, since we know they won't use a weapon (might violate somebody's rights), they won't arrest anyone (they might sue somebody), and they won't really take any action at all, it would just be more efficient that way. Then when they've all been overrun by vigilante mobs you guys can step in and be the hero and impose justice once more, and maybe get some cooperation from them.
