Last I heard LEO here can't use anything larger than 45. Course what I heard could be pretty old stuff.

9mm, 40 and 45 here...... it should be pretty standard everywhere, .38 to .45................. bigger differences with types of firearms than range of ammo.....many depts wont allow glocks, many wont allow 1911 style 45's etc etc......

I'm not LEO, I work a no gun security job at present. I have and do carry CHL. But if I do work a gun job it's 45 max. Years ago I believe Houston passed a no more than 45 cal law for police officers.

Lots of 10mm where I work. I used to carry that, but now it's a .40 cal.

Most of the Houston city cops I see are carrying 40s, either Glock 22s or Beretta 96s. The County guys carry a mix, mostly Glock 40SWs or 1911 45s or Sigs in 40SW or 45acp.

My friend that is a sergeant in HPD's Auto Theft division carries a Sig 220 45ACP. He used to carry a Glock 22 40SW.

Most of the Texas Highway Patrol guys carry Sigs in 357sig or 45acp. The Texas Rangers almost all carry some form of 1911 45ACP.
