Oral Board Tips?

Ugh. Applying for police positions here in MI. Had some oral boards and some have gone better than others.

Any tips out there from those experienced ones?

Thanks,

-kasch

Anticipate their questions, and practice replies in the mirror.
Know about the job you are applying for.
Don't bull****, fudge, or tap dance. They know when you are doing that.
"I don't know" is a better answer than the one you try to make up.
Dress like you want the job.
Mind your manners. Show respect for the board.
Forget the humor, it just turns to nervous laughter and your not there to be funny.
Be prepared with intelligent questions of your own. ("What areas of your department need improvement? I see these challenges as opportunities to...")

Good luck!
