Retired,
Thanks. Just like from Mike, it's nice to be encouraged from veterans. I actually got my Nickname from a domestic. Brand new officer, got sent to a domestic involving boyfriend/girlfriend, and girlfriend's dad! I was first on scene, and didn't know to wait for backup. Boyfriend and his friend had knives, dad had a shovel, and girlfriend with a hammer. In 5 minutes, 10-15'd (arrested) both boys, had dad calmed down and bandaged, and girlfriend writing a written statement.

I agree, I should have waited for Backup, but the rookie in me wanted to kick some anuss!!

Domestic violence, unfortunately, is just as prevalent in the small country areas as in big cities.

And I forgot to mention, as you and other leos know, but the general public does not, DV calls are some of the most dangerous ones leos handle.

When the woman (usually) sees her bread and butter being handcuffed and led out of the house to jail, she suddenly changes her mind about being hit and bloodied and decides to attack the officer from behind. That's when serious injuries/death can and do occur.

A big 10-4 on that one, too. It is amazing how quickly the battered woman can become a felon herself.
