Ok... I used to Live in Folsom, and my brother lives in sac, my reserve unit is also currently in sac so im pretty familiar with the area.

I live in West Sac and work for the city PD in a nearby college town. Hit me up if you ever make it back out here, we'll go pop some primers.

Ok, I've talked with our friend in the department, he has been in the department for 22 years and of course was very knowledgeable. He is bringing me an application packet tomorrow to fill out and give back to him. He told me he would talk to the jail captain about some stuff and said it would be no problem getting my application looked at/and an interview. I called my parents and slowly felt them out and then told them what I was planning, they surprised me by being extremely supportive and told me to do it. Everyone I have talked to has told me to do it and is supporting me. I'm still concerned about getting the bills paid but I've been told that it will work itself out and not worry. So after much thought, reading, talking I'm gonna do it!

I'm excited, nervous, concerned...etc.. Now I just have to get hired and do everything I can to get the bills paid down before then.

Thanks everyone for the help/support.... I'm going to need more!

Contact your local LE office and get an application, sometimes everything you need to know/need is on their website.

A good general starting place is an associate's degree at minimum. Police forces being professional organizations is the norm these days. In WI, you can, say, finish a degree in one thing, and as long as you have 60 credits, go through the Academy (one semester or so) and get a technical diploma on top of your degree. Some will hire that way. So good luck Norinco and Silly34. I'm getting close to done with my first semester (2 year program) and I'm 23. Granted it's a huge pay INcrease for me when I find me a job...
