When I was a military police officer for eight years policiy was no concealed weapons allowed on post. Police officers in uniform ( state police, county police, etc ) were allowed to enter the post with thier weapons.

At Aberdeen Proving Grounds in maryland the maryland state police and hartford county sheriff's department use to come on our post all the time to shot the bull with us.

But what alot of state and local civilian police have to understand is they have no authority on a military post. The provost marshal is the man in charge, what he says goes.

MP's are jerks "LOL"

Here's a story for you all:

In 1987 when I was with the 523rd Military Police Company at aberdeen proving grounds in maryland one our MP's got busted on a DWI by the maryland state police.

When our first sargent went to get him he was roughed up, when the first sargent ask why one of his MP's was smacked around the arresting trooper got smart mouth belittling our first sargent. Big mistake !!!!!!!!

This trooper was dateing a women on our post, a few weeks later he had a 1805 ticket ( maximum fine and points ) for speeding and wreakless driveing, and his civilian car was totaly tore apart in a vehicle search. And we were told if he had a concealed weapon to take it and escort him to the MP station. But he did'nt have one on him. No search warrants needed on a military post, read the signs before you enter a military post.

Yes our MP was wrong, but they did'nt need to rough him up. And they really did'nt have to get smart mouth with our first sargent.

I'm not going to say if I have or haven't CCed on a military base before but keep in mind you and your property are subject to search at any and all times while on post. This is one of the biggest reasons I won't live in base housing myself. Not to mention I would loose nearly 1000 dollars a month living on base as my BAH would go straight to the contractors that now run Base housing in the Lejeune area.

Edit-they don't even need resonable cause to search you. If they get a wild hair they can do what ever they feel like doing.

in my experience....probably a better idea not to do so
most of the time its not a problem but i dont even like having a bow in the back seat of the truck if i go on a base, ive seen others get some trouble for it - and thats just a bow.

Same here. At our local Superior Court House we're supposed to check our guns with the 2 court Deputies at the front door. I always wear my G27 on my shoulder rig under my dress jacket and then give them my G22 from my hip holster to secure. They feel happy because I'm securing a gun.....& I'm happy because I can still defend myself.

I know in district courts I skip the metal detectors when I show my police ID....same with federal court?

FWIW I work in a DoD building with armed guards. I was standing in the lobby one day and a local LEO tried to come into the building and walk past the guard desk. The guards stopped him and told him he could not come in as this was a DoD building and he had no jurisdiction. The refused him entry. I asked the next day what happened and they said he had to call in and have a DoD police officer (the guards at my office were contract guards) come and escort him in.

I would think that unless the LEO has offical business on a DoD installation and has cleared it with the Provost Marshall or equivalnt that LEO's can no carry onto DoD property.

ETA if you try and go on to the local installation here and do not have a DoD sticker and CAC they will inspect your car, search it, open the hood and trunk and go thru every nook and cranny, they will also wand you and check for weapons. Actually even if you have a sticker and ID they sometimes pull you over and search you according to the FPCON.

Probably going to vary from installation to installation on that one. I know the Onslow County Deputies and Investigators come on board MCAS New River with and they have their weapons on them. But our security isn't handled by doughnut eating contractors either it's handled by real live Marines

I was always under the understanding that a military base is a federal reservation and unless the base commander waved the magic wand police officers did not carry on base. Whenever I go to RCTA in Mississippi for training we are advised to leave our weapons secured in our vehicles while on base.
