My '05 Iowa shotgun buck. He's not a pig but I'll take it. Taken with Remington 1100 20 gauge using Remington Copper Solid Sabot rounds.
The deer in the background was shot ten minutes after I sat down on December 3rd. Fifteen yards from where I was sitting. He went down immediately. The deer I'm holding was shot at ten yards from the same seat, on the ground, thirty minutes after the first deer. He went down immediately as well. Gordy ![]()

583 was the yardage...we only smoked a dozen or so dogs that day. The pickings were pretty slim in the area...there had been a mild winter combined with a large flea/plague problem that thinned the population down.

My buddy and I were shooting with both a 7mm-08 and a .25-284 off and on all day. I believe that in this pic I'm holding the 7mm-08 (both were his rifles). The closest thing I have to a varmint rifle is my 7 Mag, and even with light loads you can't shoot that very long at these guys...but talk about reach out and touch someone with that thing...WOW! The way the winds were swirling this day, it was almost impossible to use the standard .223 or .22-250. We needed something with little bit heavier bullet weight to counteract the wind.
