Beautiful country up there Durango way....did you happen to ride the scenic steam railroad to Silverton while you were in the area?

I unfortunately sold my only good elk rifle in March. I'm stupid. But, I wanted to buy an XD, which I did, so it turned out ok.

I still have an old Enfield .303 that might work ok.

My current deer rifle is a .25-06.

I shot it with a Browning A-Bolt 300 win mag. It was a 300 yard shot and it collapsed right when I shot. It never took a step. The 300 win mag is a great elk rifle.

As a matter of fact, I flew my wife out after the hunt, and we did ride the train up the mountain. It was very nice, and my wife loved it.

Good for you guys. Last time I rode it was about 15 years ago, so a return trip is in order.

Congrats, nice Elk. Far as I'm concerned I'll take Elk meat any time over venison.

His rack wasn't that big your right. But the guide said 890 pounds is a mature bull. Heck I didn't care, I was so pumped up from shooting it it didn't matter to me if it was a record or not...

Oh definitely an elk kill is a rush of it's own, even cows. I won't like I still get the shakes sometimes when I sight up on a big bull. Finally gotten over that with the cows and bucks*granted never really shoot a huge buck*. I really wanna try hunting out east for white tails hear thats great eating and dam their deer are the size of my dog. I'm use to big ol' mule deers not them little whities. Oh well some day I'll have enough money and maybe have a friend over that way to go try my luck at some white tail.
