I'm instaling a PRP match trigger in my XDm 40 and this thread has helped bigtime, thank you.
Two questions: Daniel you mention in your video that the sear should be flush with the rails. Should this check be done with the sear "cocked" back or when it is in the "up" position? Also, should the overtravel stop be lightly touching the trigger bar? When I first installed it the trigger wouldn't budge so I shaved a little (and at a slight angle) and am able to do the "reset test" mentioned in the video with very little overtravel, however the overtravel stop still touches the trigger bar "at rest". Any help would be appreciated! |

PRP Zero Take Up Trigger Safety
I got the XDM40 a couple of weeks and love it. I've had an XD40 since 2004. I want to get into tactical competitions so I bought the PRP easy fit M/T trigger kit. The step-by-step install from propellarhead on the safety and over travel stop is great. Does any one have a similar post for installing the PRP zero take up trigger safety? Or should I just buy the DVD from PRP?

Put my kit in today... order the M/T with the springs, OTS, and Safety lever. Took about an hour to get it all installed... and the difference is amazing. Trigger weight is about half... and the length of travel fells like about a third of the factory set-up.
Great product... but it would have been nearly worthless without this tutorial.

Thanks to the write up and discussion here, I've decided to take the plunge on my carry gun: a well-used XD40 - 4". Ordered the Easy Fit Trigger Kit and Reduced Spring kit today, and hope to install them next week some time. I'll post the results.

Yet another satisfied customer!
Thanks to this thread and Daniel's DVD, my XD40 now has a overtravel stop and new striker safety installed. The trigger travel is nice and short for both takeup and (especially) reset. Can't wait to get it to the range!
But first... sleep.

Thanks for this awesome thread!
Installed: Easy-fit Match Kit
Previous 'Smithing Experience: 0 I ordered my kit on Tuesday. It shipped Wednesday, and arrived at my home in TN Friday afternoon. That's awesome service! I read this thread literally like 25 times before I began Friday afternoon, and I would like to thank everyone who has posted here. I was able to keep a cool head when my slide was stuck because I was unable to pull the trigger, since I knew it was a possibility, and how to fix it. I knew to take my time, and I put the thing together and took it apart ~20 times, to insure that I got it right the first time. I think I did. I just removed a little bit at a time until the trigger broke with a little too much force, and then took a little bit more off of the OT stop so the trigger felt firm immediately after breaking. My safety lever required no fitting; I believe that this is resultant of a great part, and that my XD has had a few (~1500-1750) rounds through it, and is pretty broken in already. I had the opportunity to try it out yesterday. I put about 100 rounds through it, and the only problem that I encountered was solely related to my grip (I inadvertently hit the slide stop and locked the slide open). The trigger is now the best I have ever used, and I still want to do some polishing to see if it can get even better. The first round actually surprised me a little, the trigger broke so nicely. I wasn't expecting it when the thing broke. Daniel, kudos to you, Sir! Great product, great service, awesome end result! I'll be sending you some more business. Propellerhead, thank you for creating this invaluable resource! Priceless info in this thread... |
