Finish the PRP OT Stop
Wow! I finally got the PRP OT Stop in. I was pleasantly surprised that the XDM OT Stop comes with most of the A oval removed, I didn't touch "A" it was perfect. I was surprised at the B; I tried with nothing removed and of course the trigger didn't move. 2nd Try I simply cut on the diagonal removing little from the outside original edge = no trigger. The third try was just removing a very little more on the same diagonal as the curve on the trigger bar. Son of a Gun - it worked as do all safeties. I thought several attempts would be required and never thought so little material would be needed to be removed.
Here is what I have now: Factor Old New Dif Total Travel 9/16 4/16 5/16 Make it Break 3/16 2/16 1/16 (from where its hard to fire) Front to hard 4/16 1/16 3/16 (Take up ) Can't wait to take it to the range Monday Night and see ????? ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Would like some one like GunnBug or Dan to confirm these measurements seem OK. 2. Not I, but some Expert - Maybe even Prophead - should do an XDM series. There is only one and its Disassembly only. Lots of XDM's being sold as well as PRP's XDM's have some extra parts and springs. ie. "no pull trigger to strip" ROD and the XDM has 3 springs for Trigger and sear, XD seems to have only 2. PRP gives you a trigger spring to replace existing, but stock sear has two springs, one that wraps the Safety Bar which I assume you must still use and the other one which you replace with PRP's sear spring. Dan - true?? 3 Thanks to all for all your help and threads. **** |

Spacing in above reply
Sorry the spacing above in the measurements came out wrong and the Edit function simply won't work. What is meant above is Factor....Old....New...Dif
It will simply be a bit hard to decipher. |

I installed mine too
I had to do the same thing you did Drd. I had to pull the sear out to get the prp part in, not adjustments necessary after that, it was perfect and all safety's work. I overdid it right off the batt on the ot part but it is still an improvement over stock. I should have done what PH did and just order an extra in the original kit. The dissassembler bar does increase the PITA factor some but overall it was pretty easy once you get past the fear factor of pulling parts out of your new toy! I ran about 100 rounds through it just yesterday and everything functioned beautifully. Thanks to Daniel and his wife, I am very happy with my purchase. I ordered a new ot stop and springs so I will be fixing that soon too.

Safety Lever First
Hi Agalindo - Yes I already had the safety lever in. I recapped my experience with the safety lever two reply's prior to my comments about the OT Stop; within which I had some of the XDM peculiarities that Imonfire found.
I went to the range yesterday and my groups were much better - but I am sure they are not as good as if I could see the sights with my 72 year old eyes. Soooooo. In spite of all the warnings I think I'm going to think hard on installing some TRUGLOWs in Yellow and Green. Very happy with the product and service by PRP - Dan and Michelle - both good people. I was so damned afraid of putting in the Match Kit as one can see by my earlier replies, but actually found the whole thing rather enlightening in understanding the gun and taking it all apart. I took a bit longer than some of the younger guys. But I build model Heli's and love to fit it to death since I,m retired. Wish someone would give me some feedback on my measurements in the earlier reply on the OT Stop. Thanks - **** |

yea after doing the install trial and error on the first and then 2 more guns you really know the XD inside and out. Youll be able to put it together blindfolded almost

It sounds like you did good. The measurements are some what subjective. I assume that they were taken from the tip of the trigger by the trigger guard. Some people measure it differently. Thanks for your business, ~Daniel

I finally had time to install my PRP match trigger kit yesterday, and all is well!
I installed the safety lever, OT stop and the trigger spring. I didn't put in the smaller spring yet since that looks more complicated, maybe I'll get back to it once I've put some more rounds through the gun. The trigger spring is a piece of cake once you pull out the trigger assembly. I ended up filing away about half of the little oval on the OT stop. The remainder of the filing was on the surface touching the angled portion of the trigger bar and resulted in a large flat area with very firm contact (I only filed at 45 degrees, never to shorten the overall length of the OT stop.) I took the advice of an earlier post and assembled only the following pieces when testing : the Locking Block, trigger assembly, and the pin holding the trigger in place. Thanks to Powder River (Dan) for a great product! It was satisfying to do a completely custom fit for my XD.

This is my first post after lurking around for a while.
I installed a PRP match trigger kit yesterday on my .45 tactical and went to tha range today. This kit makes the gun what I wanted it to be from the start, way nicer to shoot. Thanks Daniel for GREAT service, even on Saturdays |
