Ordered mine on Tues, arrived on Saturday. Striker safety lever went it without a problem in my brand new XD45C. The easy OTS took a little longer, but that was mostly due to learning how to reassemble with the stop in there.

I took off just a little on side "A"... a little more on side "B". I gotta say this improved the tripper feel immensely. I also ordered the match springs to reduce the pull weight but didn't install them. I don't think I'll need to... except for a match here and there. The feel after replacing the striker safety and installing the OTS was good enough!

Much thanks to those providing the instructions and pics!

Update: Got to the range today for a quick safety verification live fire. 35 flawless rounds, and 1 FTF due to a burr on the case wall. Bullet had loaded badly & crushed part of the casewall down and prevented it going into battery. On second attempt it chambered ok & fired fine. All safeties functioned properly. Trigger's a lot nicer too.

Check out this thread at my other favorite forum, XD Trigger Kits to find out the success some of us here in Georgia are having with the Powder River parts.

While your at it check out GeorgiaCarry.org Georgia's no compromise voice for gun owners dedicated to preservation and expansion of Georgia citizens' firearms rights.

Once again I want to give you a great big personal THANK YOU for the great tutorial on how to install some great parts from Daniel and Michelle at Powder River Precision
+1. I installed the PRP parts and it took some time. It was the first time I ever went beyond field stripping a gun so I was somewhat cautious and very clumsy. Anyway, I got the parts fitted and installed and have tested the safeties and dry fired it and really like it. This weekend I will send some ammo down the tube. Thank you Props for a very good tutorial. If I had not seen it, I never would have ordered these parts.

I took LoneOak's advice and visited his other forum, GeorgiaPacking. Since I am just north of the Georgia line for half the year, I just joined there as well.

Thanks again to Powder River and Propellerhead.

Great thread!

My birthday is coming up in a few days and I decided that I wanted to order some parts for my completely stock XD-45acp Service. Probably just going to buy Powder River's safety lever+overtravel stop, a polished mag release, Canyon Creek's spring kit, and a stainless guide rod if anyone makes one for my Service(the dan's "fat" rod looks to only be compatible with Tactical).

Before I go ordering stuff, I have two questions...

Has anyone installed the Powder River kit on an XD-45acp Service, and had any issues?

Has it been confirmed that using the Canyon Creek spring kit with the Powder River trigger kit, causes the trigger to not reset?

The CC springs are a little to light for me to guaranty reliable functioning. The springs that come with my match target kits will reduce the trigger pull and keep the reliability of the pistol.

I messed up

Ok, I really screwed up installing the safety lever. I put the safety lever in, put the slide on, tried pulling the trigger, and nothing happened. I'm not quite sure what I did wrong, I'm guessing I must have put the lever in a bad position in relation to the sear or the trigger bar.

So...right now my slide is on my gun and I cannot remove it. It still operates but I can't take it off since you need to pull the trigger to disassemble the gun. Is there any way to somehow move the sear while the gun is in battery without pulling the trigger? That way I can take off the slide and figure out what I did with this safety.

Thanks.

You can use a small screwdriver to trip the sear. If you look at the back of the pistol on the left hand side you will see a notch in the slide. You can access the sear through this notch. Make sure that the take down lever is in the up position and that you have the grip safety depressed when you try to release the sear. If you have any questions you can always give me a call

Daniel, all I gotta say is, you da man. You'll be getting a phone call from me tomorrow...to order a spring kit : )

Thanks so much.

ETA: I am having some problems with the safety. After installing it a few times and installing the original one, I think something's off in the new one. I'll call you and we can try to figure this out.

ETA 2: Got it! Thanks for the help Daniel. I ended up stoning off about 25 thousandths of an inch from the back of that triangular piece. Works perfectly now. You'll have an order for some springs shortly : )

- I don't think a ss guide rod is available for the 4" bbl XD45s (service or compact) due to issues with finding the 'right' spring for it to work right.

- I installed on my 45 compact, same gun with a shorter grip, no problems.

- First time I've read of the that problem on xdtalk with CC spring kit. Who said it's an issue? If you're going to go for a lighter weight spring kit, just order it from Daniel when you get the PRP trigger kit, it's $15 additional (I think).
