Stupid Question
Ive always liked the way the trigger on 1911's looks. I own an XD .45 service. My question is, is there anyway to install a 1911 trigger on a XD? I know Springfield makes both, but I have never seen it done and figured since they are two completely different firearms that they are different sizes. I figure the best way to find out is to ask you guys ( I'm still new to this)

No, it's impossible. Without getting too in depth, the 1911's trigger has a bow that goes into the mag well (basically around the magazine) where it interacts with the sear & springs to release the FP. The XD's trigger runs up to a trigger bar which travels back to release the striker.
You have 2 options, buy a 1911 or find someone that can weld up the XD trigger to look similar to a 1911s. At a minimum you'd have to do some work to lower the pretravel & overtravel a LOT (1911s basically have a stationary trigger when compared to the XD's full trigger movement, basically .1 inch vs. .5-.6 inch). They would also have to relieve the frame to allow the 1911-look trigger to move into the frame (I'm not even sure this is possible without pulling my XD apart and looking). *edit* whoops, I guess threads in this forum don't move very quickly. Sorry to "revive" an old thread. Last edited by dave421 : 06-21-2008 at 09:31 AM. Reason: oops |

Dissabemble your XD. Saw the XD frame in half lengthwise making two sides. Glue the two sides to a 1911.

You can get a pro trigger job from Canyon Creek or Springer Precision. That will make a huge difference.
